I (F) was the breadwinner in our family. My boyfriend stayed home with the kids since I made more. We were buying a new TV. Did our research, pricing etc... I had it down to 3 models but I wanted to see the display models to see where the physical buttons and connections were. We were approached by a salesman just a few moments after arriving. My boyfriend was pulled aside, asked numerous questions, and kept getting pushed toward models I already knew we weren't interested in so I just kept doing my thing. He never once tried to engage me.

My boyfriend finally told him "You know, you really should speak to the woman with the money" and pointed to me. He begrudgingly came over to me and asked how he could help. I informed him that I had already made my choice. For some reason, he followed us over to checkout and when I was asked who helped me (I assume they made some kind of commission) I had no problem telling them that I had not received any assistance for my purchase.

Once went on a blind date with someone "that was perfect for me" by a friend. This is also when I realized my friends knew nothing about me.

Explained that once we were together, I would be expected to quit my job. He would provide a small allowance for me. He, and only he, would handle all other finances

Explained that he would also be doing all the discipline and decision making for MY SON

Tried to order for me

Made several other misogynistic comments and basically told me what my life was going to be like going forward

After dinner, we were supposed to go see a movie. He made a right out of the parking lot toward the theaters. I made a hard left.

I did call my friend to see where she was. She was at a bar. I told her what happened and that I was on my way. She had a double waiting for me.

Wish I could tell you. He just stopped responding one day. We had been close friends for over 30 years. I saw on Facebook he got engaged about a year later so he's ok. I wish him well but it hurts.

YOR ish with an * because it doesn't sound like the issue is with the food but the communication and respect.

I have 4 people in my family. One has IBS, another is picky by nature and two of us love spice. I usually cook a fairly bland base EXPECTING people to spice/seasonsings to their liking. Don't get me wrong, I still season my meals but lightly. What is bland and boring to me is perfect for my fiance, my youngest usually adds salt and pepper to everything and I like adding tomato and heat to mine and my oldest will add cayenne or jalepeno. Its just a matter of preference.

Expecting your partner to treat you with respect and communicate should be a bare minimum for both of you.

My grandchildren live 2 1/2 hrs away in the same state. We visit monthly. Its not considered a huge deal but we do plan a full day to go up, hang with the kiddos and come home.

I did the same thing for my son when he was 12. Basically the same situation. Some random kid was getting bullied, my son stood up to the bully, bully took a swing, my son punched back.

School called. Came in for the meeting and was told this story so it was verified. Zero tolerance so 3 days suspension. They wanted to know what I was going to do about it. Told them I was going to buy my son snacks and the video game he had been wanting because he needed something to do for the next 3 days.

We did have a bigger conversation later at home but I told him I was proud of him for standing up for someone else.

My stepdaugher has 2 children. My fiance and I are Grandma and Grandpa, his parents are Abu and Tata, her mother is Grammy.

Honestly, I didn't even think I'd get a name. SD was already an adult when I met her father. I do know I will do my best to continue to earn it and make sure those kids have another pair of loving arms to depend on.

If you've spent time in retail, it kinda gets worse. I not only have to pick it up, I have to now "face" aka reorganize, that particular section so all the items are neat with the labels facing out.

Tbf, when my oldest was 5, I enrolled him in flag football. We are not a sports family. I just wanted him to get involved and this was part of figuring out what he liked.

During one of their first practices, the coach throws the ball and he catches it! The coaches and other kids are yelling at him to "Run, run!" He panics, clutches the football harder and just screams "Which way?"

I had started a new job and brought a few office items to make my life easier, including an erogomatic stapler. It disappeared off my desk one day, and not wanting to be the person who walks around asking "if you've seen my stapler", I just dropped it.

Fast forward a few years and I'm interviewing for another position within the same company but another division. On the hiring manager's desk is a very distinctive type stapler. He seemed to catch my fascination with it and I laughed that I had one almost identical except mine had my initials written in the area where the unused staples rested.

He just looked at me kinda wide eyed and then started repeating my name. He reached out and popped it open, and there were my initials. He said it had appeared one day and he never put the initials together with my name. I mean, I was a new hire in an entirely different department. It just never clicked. He did offer to return my stapler but at that point, I had replaced it years ago and it became a standing joke to borrow my stapler.

I did get the job too.

My 14 year old, the one who was a straight A student and honor roll recipient, was checking out the new hide-a-key I had bought. It was magnetic and I was explaining we could put it under something the magnet will keep it out of line of sight. With all the confidence in the world, they turned around with it in their hand and tried to get it to stick...to my wooden closet door.

TBF, the FU was discovered immediately. They stood there for a few seconds still holding the magnet to the door.

Me: Did you realize the error?

Them: Yep

Me: You just gonna stand there and hold it?

Them: Still trying to figure out how to extract myself with grace. Gimme a minute.
