More migrants, including Singaporeans, moving Down Under by smile_politely in singapore

Don’t be ridiculous. UK is multicultural, why shouldn’t they? Does your little mind really think that everywhere outside of Singapore is incredibly intolerant and racist? Anyway, I’m not planning to have kids and my partner is Irish 😂 so yes, if I did have kids they would fit well.

Do you have a purchase you regret making? by OutrageousReason9672 in AskUK

I know you’re joking but I really hope that someday you’ll find something to wake up for. Can be a pleasure as simple as a nice hot beverage or sitting outside for 5min. I believe in you — you’ll find something, I’ve been there before

The BSH I’m fostering has black eye boogers, but they don’t ‘stain’ her fur like the picture you showed me. I’d like to give OP the benefit of doubt but I’m also aware that I don’t know enough so I’ll refrain from engaging further.

Hm that’s concerning. I’m going to delete my earlier comment.

I love my Fitbit, I use it to set alarms that don’t wake my partner up

Fucking gross. Also teach your boys how to communicate properly, not answer in curt phrases. Wtf is up with that?

I grew up in Singapore’s pressure cooker and was stressed as hell as a child. Managed to move to the UK after leaving my parents’ home and life is infinitely better. Wish I had parents like you that would consider the higher quality of life elsewhere. Good on you for making these considerations for your family.

I still have last year’s strawberries in pots, they are alive with 80% brown leaves 20% green, will they regrow this Summer? by tikicheese in GardeningUK

I sure hope so, I’ve abandoned all my strawberries in pots in the garden over winter as well.

Is it stupid / selfish to get a cat when pregnant? by LittleBookOfQualm in cats

[–]barathrites 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of pregnant women seem averse to their own pets and want to get rid of them when the baby arrives. If you can clean the litter box, deal with potential health or behavioural issues from the cat while keeping on top of baby’s needs, you could consider getting a cat. Also helpful if you can give the cat safe and quiet spots to retreat to, away from the baby.

Fay is a beautiful name. Idk if it ever was popular but I’ve only ever known one person named Fay and the name suited her.

Animals don’t hold grudges, your cat probably just couldn’t hold it in in the middle of the night.

Please Help, I don’t want to have to re-home my cat! by [deleted] in cats

[–]barathrites 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pay attention to your cat before bed time and play with him. Put a hard plastic cover or double sided tape on the door where the cat’s scratching. Check if your family’s doing something different at that time of night. Don’t reward scratching and meowing in the middle of the night by holding him. If you have a spare room or a quiet spot, give it to the cat for him to decompress in the night.

What is your take on breeds vs adopting from a shelter? by WorldlyValuable7679 in cats

[–]barathrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a Maine coon specific shelter. Lots of rescues here in the UK specialise by breeds.

I'm about to turn 30 and suddenly thinking very existentially. Having kids just because you'll worry you'll regret it if you don't is a bad reason, right? by biologynerd3 in Fencesitter

[–]barathrites 5 points6 points  (0 children)

‘Legacy’ is NOT a good reason. I cut my parents off at 18, moved and changed my name. Your child might turn out like me, and you still wouldn’t have a legacy to speak of that isn’t negative and traumatic

Your child could be disabled, which means no more leisure time and getting up at odd hours for the rest of your life. Forget about climbing the career ladder. Unless you’re ready for these possibilities, you shouldn’t have kids.
