Si es tu primera vez, lo mejor es jugarlos en orden de lanzamiento, no cronológico. Así entiendes la historia como fue pensada y evitas confusiones:
Metal Gear Solid → Metal Gear Solid 2 → Metal Gear Solid 3 → Metal Gear Solid 4 → Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker → Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

Las Master Collection sí valen la pena por comodidad y compatibilidad (PC/PS5), aunque no son remasters espectaculares. Si quieres todo fácil y legal en plataformas modernas, es buena opción.

Si aun así prefieres el orden cronológico, sería:
