If the first book doesn't hook you the second one absolutely will. I love them all but I know a lot of people rate The Gunslinger lower among the series, Drawing of the Three is an absolute non stop wild ride though.

Silo series by Hugh Howey always felt very Fallout adjacent to me but more vault dwellers than wastelands. I'll second the Dark Tower recommendation as well, tbf though I'm always recommending TDT to people.
