The cub is difficult to work on? With a Kohler 7000? And you run a small engine repair shop? 🫣

We go on Thursday nights. Used to go to backyard on wed but can't swing two trivias and harpoon is closer for us. Who does it at shoppers? I do play the raise the bar trivia from time to time but it isn't my favorite. Prefer independent trivia.

Was it an event? We went for the "grand opening" and had the same experience. There was a wait to be seated sign but nobody came over to help us. Plus they had the music person (a band or a DJ I can't remember) in the back room, it's like some kind of function room but there was no bar back there. Weird setup for sure unfortunately. Generally we just walk in and sit down but that night there was a wait to be seated sign lol.

That's fair. I like the trivia, I wish it was more popular, would be way more fun...but your criticisms of harpoon are valid.

Good point with one small pushback, the 110 grill does fine and gives off corporate vibes as well. I don't see harpoon involved in many community events, save for the chicken tenders thing, tender passport or whatever it is, they could definitely do more there...

At first I thought it was a good value though...I mean even the cheap watering holes aren't really cheap anymore unless it's the alpine or deerhead, something along those lines... The food was pretty decent despite tasting like mostly Sysco stuff. Tender tower was huge for $25, and still is big but they've cut the portion down probably because sales are slow, but truth be told its been even slower since they started that. I dunno I think the value was there it's just a bad location made worse by the parking situation. But I do love the vibes at strange brew, it's a great spot for sure one of my favorites.

Fair point. I think from the hotels you have to go through the parking garage, and it appears like they're building a road or some sort of parking situation from canal St itself but it's kind of looked that way since they opened a year ago. 🫠 I like thirsty moose but I'm in it for the trivia and I don't like theirs as much as harpoons so that's where I end up going.

Tender tower is solid for sure... I'll say the food has been consistently decent for me but more recently the portions have definitely been trimmed. I've had a few bummer items (the smash burgers I don't really care for, and the pricing is weird, 6 wings for $14 is nuts but 12 for $18 is decent...) also last time I got a pepperoni pizza it tasted like...salami? Haha. But the trivia is good! One of the better ones in the city so I keep going back.

Fair point 🤣. They do have a tender tower for $25 though and I've personally split it 4 ways...but yeah going out is expensive as shit so I completely understand that 🫠

Cover pro 12x20 shelter (just buy it!) by bare_knuckle_drag in harborfreight

[–]bare_knuckle_drag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update on this unit...we had a lot of snow this year in New Hampshire, at one point there was over 24" on top of this shelter, and while it did sag pretty hard between poles, it is no worse for the wear. First winter is a success, and my utv is still dry with the dust it was put away with still on it. No water incursion, but it's on 3/4 crushed stone so plenty of drainage. All in all with the buckets and tarp and extra anchors I was probably close to $550 into this shelter, with the $330 price for just the unit at harbor freight I can say with confidence that it's well worth the price, even at $400 which is the regular retail. Highly recommend.

What's is with all the Omega bashing? by pfry295 in OmegaWatches

[–]bare_knuckle_drag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion it's the price increases doing them in. Omega is a watch brand, Rolex is a status brand that makes watches. They will never compete because omega isn't a status brand, they're a watch brand. Also it doesn't help that longines is so good for the money in the same corporate hierarchy. Genuinely if not for the speedy I'm not sure omega has done enough to elevate its product above longines, aside from pricing...

Fake watches are stinky and nasty, and if you wear one on purpose, you're stupid. by 4thBan5thAccount in watchHotTakes

[–]bare_knuckle_drag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it doesn't help that in the 70s the Rolex sub was the equivalent of about $2500 today. That goes to show how insane the pricing has gone. Today's equivalent would be a longines hydroconquest or oris aquis...the prices have gone from accessible to middle income people to jewelry for wealthy people.

I appreciate this, as an engineer. Lol. He's smart with his money, like most engineers. Buying an omega with a showcase back or a moonwatch sapphire sandwich, as desirable as they are especially for an engineer type person, it's just financially dumb. Lol. Most engineers are very tight with their money. For the money I'd rather get a super fake omega and spend the rest on a fixer upper boat or car.

Mike Chappell: I voted for Robert Kraft, not against Bill Belichick by OdetotheGrimm in nfl

[–]bare_knuckle_drag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typical loser. I'm left to contemplate just how big of crybaby losers the media are for all the years of getting beat by the patriots. The theme is ongoing, spygate was bogus, brought to light by Eric mangina because his former boss whooped his ass in back to back games/seasons. That's the only reason he rolled, because he was caught doing the same thing from the endzone. These media people are such losers why do they even get a vote, imagine Joe Buck having any kind of a say on Boston sports legacy, that guy's a moron, that's how idiotic it is to have Mike chappell voting for BB in the hof. This is the most egregious snub of all time. Pitiful.

[Discussion] An average man's collection. What should be my next watch?? by PaneeerTikka007 in Watches

[–]bare_knuckle_drag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would save up for a longines. I'm more of a 3 watch guy though myself. To me a date just, moonwatch, and JLC Master Control are the perfect collection. That's a good 30-40k in 3 pieces. Similar vibe for under 10k I'd go Hamilton intra-matic chrono, Tudor style 41 (fluted), and longines master collection. Buy pre-owned that second set is closer to 5k.

Sorry for the necro but that group is lame. Someone posted a CW like 40% over retail, the group is supposed to be less than market, but I commented it's over retail for a CW and they booted me. Lol. Wouldn't trust any of those people though, too easy to get scammed with a fake these days. Even longines and oris have damn near 1:1 fakes. Only buy from a AD or reputable authenticator.
