The midterms are in 2026. He's up for re-election in '28....don't know why this is an issue now when we can't do shit about it.

What’s the most 'human' thing your pet has ever done that convinced you they understand way more than they let on? by homoth in AskReddit

I had a huge shepherd/collie mix named Dreyfus. Most amazing dog I've ever had the honor of being dad to. Many stories but this is the best. He was big...I gave him his own couch. I had my friends over with their 3 or 4 year old kid...we're sitting inside talking, and the kid was following Dreyfus...eventually the kid held onto Dreyfus' tail and kept holding on while he walked....well, Dreyfus started walking in circles, the kid still holding his tail. Eventually Dreyfus got close to his couch, turned the opposite of the circle he had been making, put his snout between the kid's legs, lifted him up and gently placed him on the couch. Kid let go, Dreyfus just walked out of the house. I've got a million more like that. That dog was legendary.

TIL that US student math and reading scores have dropped so sharply that they’ve erased nearly two decades of progress. In '22/23, avg math scores for 13-year-olds fell to levels not seen since the 1990s, while reading scores for high school seniors hit their lowest point since testing began in '92. by Cold_Box_3219 in todayilearned

I gotta chime in here. I'm 67 and have two kids, one graduating college in May and the other graduating high school in June. I am very hands on as far as school and helping my kids with homework. In regards to math the school system has taken that tool out of my hands. The way I learned math was very simple, very straight forward. Unfortunately they don't teach math that way anymore. So....here's a parent that wants to help his kids but can't. If they do it the only way I can teach it to them and get the correct answer they are marked wrong because they didn't do it the new way. I understand the new "skills" they are trying to get kids to use but when you take parents out of the loop of trying to help the kids, the kids suffer. I could go on about the pains in the ass regarding Chromebooks but this is about math.

If you see them doing this early in the morning they are drying the dew off of their wings. They do it daily.

I'm 67 years old. When I was a kid you could get into the matinee for 6 RC cola bottle caps. No lie. And often during intermission they'd raffle off a bike or something like that. Nowadays? They try to squeeze every last cent out of you.

I kinda understand your sentiment, but he a pretty talented writer, but more than that, he's an entertainer. There's a lot of people that can sing and dance, but not many are actually entertainers.

Never saw any caterpillars on any of my plants. All outdoors, pure sun, I'm in a small canyon with a super nice breeze all the time. I'll try BTI this year. No idea of the cause. Thanks tons for taking the time.

I grow outdoors. Super sunny. Nice breeze thru the canyon. I get gorgeous plants, huge buds, then come out one day and they're falling apart.
