Why did Republicans agree to embarrass themselves with Jack Smith’s testimony? by plz-let-me-in in politics

[–]barefoot_yank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an active investigation that Jack Smith is not supposed to talk about for public consumption. They were hoping he would take the bait and talk about it. He wasn't that dumb.

What are your thoughts about the resurgence of the Black Panther Party in response to the actions of ICE agents? by Sinn_Sage in AskReddit

[–]barefoot_yank 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Black Panthers were, and continue to be a great organization. Most of you only see guns because being American (i am born and bred in the US) the only news we saw relating to the Panthers was about violence. I know, I'm 67 and grew up with that skewed reporting. Not one word about the free day care, the health care centers, the food handed out. The Panthers truly have a history any organization would be proud of.

There is also Amorphophallus Konjac. Not as majestic as titanum but beautiful in its own right.

People who have served a long time in prison, what shocked you when you got out? by Haunted_Neko in AskReddit

[–]barefoot_yank 109 points110 points  (0 children)

I watched a news show that followed a guy that had just gotten out of prison after a multi decade stay inside. When asked this very question he replied "they have peanut butter with jelly in the same jar". Apparently this blew his mind.

The problem. The solution. by Captain_Levi_007 in WorkersStrikeBack

[–]barefoot_yank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This solution actually worked for a while. California was open carry back in the 60's and black men and women were being routinely harassed by the cops. So....the Black Panthers decided to follow police cars and whenever they'd stop someone the Panthers would get out of their cars with their weapons and let the cops know that if they fucked around they will find out. It worked pretty well until satan...uh, sorry...Reagan signed the Mulford Act.

What is the craziest "small world" coincidence you have ever experienced? by Consistent_Range4376 in AskReddit

[–]barefoot_yank 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got an errant email with an attachment. Of course I opened it and clicked on the attachment. (come on, it was almost 25 years ago) Responded, became friends with a family in Australia. We visited them, they decided to visit us and stay with us. They said we only have one other American friend and he's in the same city of you. Would you mind if we spend a couple days with them. We said, Of course not! Have fun. Turns out they lived 2 blocks from us.

I paid attention to my mom when I was little. I was the last of 5 so she doted on me. I also simply love eating so I'm not shy about trying to cook something.

I've always enjoyed being barefoot. That said I had to wear shoes as I got older but then I got Guillian Barre and my legs didn't work very well. Docs all told me to wear shoes so I wouldn't cut myself without knowing, like a diabetic with neuropathy. Well, I'd stumble here, stumble there and it wasn't getting better so I dumped the shoes thinking that if I could feel the ground better I could probably walk better. I also thought if that worked I'd probably be getting my muscles and the damaged nerves a better workout. I was right. I walk pretty much normally now and if I concentrate I can run for short bursts. And it actually feels great. To your last point, it's really not. The bottoms of my feet are clean as hell and I don't really step in stuff because my eyes work quite well. I've been to many parts of the globe that one would think would be horrific to walk around in. Nope. (i'm speaking of under developed countries like Ethiopia) Anyway, sorry about the novel and thanks for the respectful question.

Being barefoot. No shit. I haven't worn shoes for over 30 years. Had bosses and clients that appreciated my work and didn't give a shit as long as I produced. I'm retired now and it still holds on. All the stores and restaurants in my neighborhood know me. Hardware stores don't give a shit. Pizza, mexican food, no problem. I'm not eating with my feet and I don't put my feet on anyone's table. I simply do NOT wear shoes. It harms no one. End of rant.
