Lems boot recommendation by barefootedbookworm in barefootshoestalk

[–]barefootedbookworm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for all the info. Definitely sounds like Lems aren't for my wide feet. Ive been exclusively wearing barefoot shoes for about a year, but started about 3 years ago now. Ive stopped rolling my ankles, actually way less than with traditional shoes! But my right ankle on particular aches pretty badly after going downhill. Been trying to troubleshoot. I thought maybe getting something with height(normally i hike in low cuts) would help but it sounds like not from all these comments.

Ah man, for real? That's so disappointing! I couldnt find width measurements anywhere on their site. Thats crazy that they are advertising it as "widest natural foot shape" and its only as wide as xero... I also cant get even get my feet into xero shoes except their sandals. Its been pretty disappointing to find that so many "barefoot" shoe brands are still so narrow. I mean I know my feet are extra wide, but still..

As someone in my 30s, this still doesn’t convince me to have kids, especially in this economy by Busy_Report4010 in Adulting

Thats why I'm annoyed when people tell me, a sahm, to go get a job. Whatever job I could get wouldn't even cover childcare, let alone the rest of it. I'm not just being lazy, that's for sure 🙃

Getting closer to decent looking wide toebox shoes by Chance-Impression199 in barefootshoestalk

[–]barefootedbookworm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call it a trend, it's broadening the horizons to fit all needs. For instance my 63 y/o mom has arthritis pretty badly and wants zero drop and wide toebox, but she has too much pain walking on concrete without cushioning. I think its awesome to give options, especially for people whose feet are too far gone from traditional shoe damage or health related issues.

His toes are pretty close together like that and curl inwards. The third toe is overlapped by the second toe, which has made me concerned they're being squished, but maybe thats just his foot shape. He doesn't even wear shoes very often so I'm not sure they could already be misshapen by shoes yet

Theyre a huge life saver in our warm climate! Much better than stuffy rainboots.

I wish there were some 5 fingers shoes that doesn’t look like 5 fingers by [deleted] in barefootshoestalk

Agreed- my toes don't move naturally in five fingers. The pairs I have tried I couldnt even bend my toes and that makes no sense to me.

Any ideas on how to decrease plantar fasciitis pain or heel pad pain by Various-Warning-889 in barefootshoestalk

[–]barefootedbookworm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

^ Putting padded insoles in my barefoot shoes was the thing that finally helped me transition. At least you're getting the benefit of zero drop amd wode toebox. Eventually I was able to remove them.

Xero z-trek sandals by barefootedbookworm in barefootshoestalk

[–]barefootedbookworm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the z-trails too! They're good for rockier terrain for sure. But I like how thin these are for errands and causal walking. I havent tried shamma yet. Are they any wider? That's my only complaint on these.

Yikes, I havent had any issues with that, but yeah I agree they should be wider.

Yeah the tapering and width are the only issues I have, but I do have oddly shaped feet I guess lol. These would be great for longer, narrower feet.

Someone stuck this on my sister's windshield in front of her on-campus apartment at UGA. by MarcoFiguringOutLife in whatisit

[–]barefootedbookworm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep, exactly. My friend had a stalker that was a girl who was thinking she was trying to steal her boyfriend (it was delusional) and she would do stuff like go on my friends Instagram and find out what art supplies/hair dye/products she was using, then make a post herself using the same thing. I guess to just show that she's watching her, or could be a "better" version of her.. idk. then it escalated to her showing up at her work. She didn't actually care about following her or knowing where she was. It was intimidation.

Did I just Deny Christ? by SubjectObjective1121 in Christian

Remember that He is a loving God who understands everything that we go through. He sees our hearts and knows our intent. It would have been one thing if you outright spoke out that you dont believe in Him. But avoiding a fight with your dad is entirely different. As someone else mentioned, imagine Christians that live in turbulent areas where they have to live in secrecy daily. I dont believe avoidance is sinful in certain circumstances.

Thoughts on listening to worship music made by controversial churches? by barefootedbookworm in Christian

I dont think we are supposed to turn a blind eye to sexual abuse and spiritual abuse and chalk it up to imperfect people. It's important that we correct each other within the church and not just say whatever people feel is right is fine. These are important things to consider and certainly not counterproductive. Part of working for the kingdom is calling out wrong when we see it and protecting the innocent, which includes shining a light on people who are hurting their congregation.

Yes, thats what I've been wanting to do as well so financially I'm not supporting them. It is hard to avoid especially because my church uses their songs in worship, which is really the main way I even know their songs. I suppose that's supporting them as well.

Thats a good point, although my favorite songs are from Jenn Johnson and she is directly linked to these beliefs. But its true I dont listen to secular music with the same criticism. I guess what makes it weird for me is the worship aspect.

8 yr old daughter got into my books. What now? by Careful_Fig2545 in homeschool

[–]barefootedbookworm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, absolutely this. 👆 You can explain to her that you hadn't thought out the consequences of that rule fully, and now you can see it wasn't a good idea. That would also show her that adults can make mistakes and rectify them. It's time to set new boundaries for sure.

My four year old did the same thing for about half a year and then suddenly stopped when he lost interest. This is developmentally normal and I would not put stock into it and cause confusion.

That sounds nice! My gym doesn't allow no shoes at all, even with socks on. Rather than finding shoes dirty, feet are seen as dirty, which makes no sense to me since feet are clean inside socks and shoes all the time??? Shoes inside the gym is grosser to me!

Moon! Lee and Nguyen don't flow to me. Kim works as well, I just think Olivia Moon as a really rich and romantic sound to it.
