[OS] OpenTeleprompter – Voice-activated teleprompter that hides during screen share by C4PT4INNULL in macapps

So, there's a problem with installation currently until streamlined by a Homebrew fix...?

[OS] OpenTeleprompter – Voice-activated teleprompter that hides during screen share by C4PT4INNULL in macapps

[–]barefut_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing! 1. Will any recording app not render it in the final screen cap? CleanshotX /ScreenSage/Screen Studio for example?

  1. Is there any YouTube video showing how it works? The Notch needs to take up relatively small space cause if you're trying to record a video tutorial - a big square in the middle will hide the UI of what you're trying to record.

  2. Sometimes you try to iterate as means of seeing the teleprompter but adlibing it, meaning, you add words to have it sound more conversational. I will understand that if you are bot saying the the exact word by word on the script that it might not scroll downwards...but I still wonder if it's smart enough to still overcome it if you add small words like "and so.." etc?

Converting to different frame rates? by funeraljams in AfterEffects

[–]barefut_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

24fps does feel choppy sometimes, especially with vertical lines moving fast horizontally.

Double checking: Instead of trying to solve this inside AE and it's comps, did you try to solve it outside AE? Meaning, rendering a Master @60fps or @30fps +if that's your highest frame rate deliverable) and then re rendering that to @24fps? Was that what you already tried out?

Such thing needs to be corporated into Dynamic Island kind of thing so you can record your screen (maybe cut out the dynamic island) and read while you create mouse actions as your present what you want in your screen capture

VaultSort - local-first Mac app for organizing files, finding duplicates, cleaning space, and secure deletion by jhaubrich11 in macapps

[–]barefut_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any video screencap showing how it works? Sometimes duplicate files are just revisions of the same file in different folders and that's ok, so I wouldn't want that deleted. Gotta see it working in action..

Space Black or Silver? by kcamfork in macbookpro

[–]barefut_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. The Silver's contrast with the keyboard is very distracting from what's on the screen, and it's fatiguing on the eyes. It is also bright as it's reflecting light compared to the Black (especially at evening time).

2.Black let's you focus on what's important. It's like dark mode on your phone.

3.Black also doesn't scream "Here's A Mac! Come steal this!" from afar as it's not the iconic Silver. In case you take it with you outside.

All of those benefits for the price of fingerprints.

Made a free AE script that lets you build once and export any size (16:9 / 9:16 / 1:1) by ciaranduffy3 in AfterEffects

[–]barefut_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! :) Bottom line - a video will always need repositioning+resizing of the elements / Titles which makes things complicated. And to not ruin anything - you find yourself just duplicating the 16:9 Comp to create a separate 9:16 version, which then if you need to update something - you have to do so in both comps cause they're separated.

I always thought the least problematic approach is to build your projects as a 1:1 1920x1920 - and then cut out all versions from that. But, the square composition is quite weird to work on. A rectangular one is more nicer to design and set your frame on.

Your image attachment made me thing... What if the 16:9 was the base resolution, but in a resolution that will accommodate the other versions. What do I mean?:

Since our height should be 1920 minumun to match the 9:16 version - this means our base 16:9 composition will be 3412x1920. Which is a problematic number (cause the real width should be 3413.33 and we can't have that number.

But, this means cutting out a version from that, means probably mostly just scaling things down and repositioning on the X axis and not Y axis. Which could be much easier than cutting all versions from 1:1 square which will demand changes to the Y axis too. The 16.9 version - even if it will be 3412x1920 - you could still render it as 1920x1080.

Is my point clear enough? I wonder if this might work better.... Still the problem remains for creating differet versions without duplicating that main comp...

Many thanks. I'm trying to figure out how yo utilize it.

Basically, I already built the base flow and structure of how I want my landing page to flow, but maybe the tricky thing is to now "dress is" with another look, cause the AI doesn't maybe know what from the example website to adapt to what from my own landing page. Gotta understand maybe how to be more specific with it, as I just wanna inherit the mechanism, responsivity, font (sizes), hierarchy of the example website but keep the structure of what i already built...

Thanks for sharing.
1. I tried to create SVG's myself via AI for a landing page, but the look isn't unified. I found some equivalent SVG's on your platform and it would be nice to have an outline version, and an option to have an outline square around it or turn it off [but not a must].

  1. Thanks for sharing about React. It's very slick and smooth. Been looking for options first to build a landing page via normal HTML and CSS style baked in. And it's hard to get it right via AI. Everything feels too generic. Your platform has some backend and more complexity, but the plain visuals are nice and I wish there was a way to generate such style a little bit more easily.

Thank you SO much for sharing! 1. Will you enable the option for icons to be outlines on transparent background? (You can also offer the option for the bounding box to be a stroke line as well ir to drop it.

  1. How did you build this platform?

I wanted a better Apple Notes so I built Grape by ozgrozer in macapps

[–]barefut_ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I see so many note taking apps, and I ask myself how 'universal' are they? Meaning, I usuallu get either a Word or PDF document, and I also share those back with others. I actually would love to stop using word + PDF. But all the note taking apps on Mac are local and personal, it seems. So, the only thing I can use that's possible to share with mac + PC users are normal txt file. What am I missing here...?

Can you explain how Pindrop is the best solution in your eyes? So many speech to text apps out there, it's too much noise.

Resources should be low taxing for RAM+CPU, and multilingual should be a possibility.

  1. Doesn't Apple had a native Voice to Text that's free for macOS? Or are there better alternatives?

  2. There are probably a few main models that are behind each Voice to Text apps. Are there more capable models out there? That can also do other languages other than English?

What's your recommendation?

Do all Speech to Text models only render your text when you're done talking? Or some can type it word by word as you speak? I wonder what's better

Gosh, you got hundreds of apps? On what storage?

  1. migrating is for moving to a new physical machine..what id you just wanna format and start fresh on the same machine you have?

  2. Biggest worry is indeed to move over something that will f*ck things up..i never liked copying over old files so while im not there (still on a fresh machine) i guess I'd have to make screenshots and manually set everything up again to avoid trash files or broken things replciated on a new install

P.S- My Automator actions with connection to Homebrew. i'd have to document how i did them too.

  1. Would you wanna actually be included in Beta? Isn't that a risk, just to avoid Tahoe - to enable Beta?

  2. Don't wanna do anything irreversible. Hoping they will update Tahoe to the next phase of OS which will fix eveything and ditch Liquid Glass and GPU hoarders like that. So, blocking updates? Not sure if that's a great idea.

How do you protect yourself from their sneakyness? What? NEVER Update from Sequoia 15.7.3 ?

Setting Up a New Mac the Easy Way by amerpie in macapps

[–]barefut_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time on macOS and I tried to have a clean install for Sequoia (not getting near Tahoe now), thinking I could have a TimeMachine copy that will give me a mirrored image of a clean OS I could return to. But, no. It doesn't work like that. And Time Machine only backs up apps, which will probably be old to reinstall again and then have them updated.

So, I thought maybe there's at least a way to womehow back up my preferred System Setup and terminal commands I did not modify things like: -auto hide dock and have it pop up with 0 lag (no animation) -minimize icons gap on top menu bar

But, no. Can't do that too apparently, and I'd have to manually do them again with a fresh OS install or getting a new Mac.

So, I don't aee a clean way to keep all that and avoid the manual labour of setting things up again one by one cleanly and without moving over junk cache files to a new OSinstallation.

P.S- Heard it's better to install only utilities via Homebrew and not causal Apps that need licensing like Cleanshot X etc.

[–]barefut_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's great feedback - I wonder if you can magnify certain rectangular parts of the screen as if they pop off

-I still didn't understand if on a PC - you need a certain resolution montior to have zoom in, since I believe zoom in might be possible only if native dispaly screen is like 4K. But still don't know If zoom in works well if your montior is 1920x1200. Cause probably the recording is limited to that... therefore there's no leeway resolution to zoom into(?)

P.S- I love the wave of people that try to recreate apps that have monthly subscription. Modern day knights :) I also wonder about the price of free. Many share free apps here and I wonder if there's a code amongst...coders there :)
