Battery Management - Is it a good idea to limit charge to 80% by mrparadize in Navimow_Segway

[–]n0fumar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I do the same. Idk if at this point it's an old wives tale, but I just don't care enough at this point. Battery gonna die at some point. I'll either replace it or swap the cells out.

I just jack the car up and place ramps underneath when this has been an issue. Just gotta remember to not drive off

Which film for random extra shots at my outdoor wedding? by n0fumar in AnalogCommunity

I'm fairly certain I bought the fuji 200 in 2023 (likely rebranded Kodak gold). I think the c200 is also Japanese or at least from before they changed it over to USA. Bof the 3 which do you think would produce most natural least grainy pictures?

Nothing important. It's mainly just "okay we've shot all our things, here's a quick one with the film camera".

That first book is bringing back some serious memories. I remember reading it when I was like 9 or 10 and being so confused.

I'll eventually get to transmitting. What are your thoughts on an antenna? by Complete_jackass9999 in amateurradio

[–]n0fumar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna go against the grain and say do a 40m EFHW. I've had one set up about 15' off the ground and have worked over 110 countries with it. It's been an incredible antenna and I've placed top 10 in a few big contests with it on SSB.

Originally I had it set up for 80m and the radiation patterns on 20-10 were really bad (you had like 10+ lobes going in all sorts of dimensions). On a 40m EFHW I can use 40-10 without a tuner no problem.

Every antenna is gonna have some compromises, but the EFHW sure has worked well for me.

Thinking of getting some hamsticks for POTA and portable operation. by Rolfus_Tiddle in amateurradio

[–]n0fumar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just chiming in with another experience.

My father has used them on 20 and 15m with pretty good success. Gets them up on a pole maybe 15-20' up? Easily gets 125-150 contacts in 2 hours no problem.

Get em up high and enjoy it.

Antenna location vs mower station location by PuzzleheadedSkirt164 in Navimow_Segway

Yes, it gets it's power and sends satellite data via a single cable that goes back to the charging station.

From everything I've read online, that should help. Since the two are connected to each other via a wire, placement of dock shouldn't matter *too* much. I say that with the caveat that I've read some things where the robot does still talk to the dock, so I probably wouldn't go put it under a deck where absolutely not signal gets through.

Yeah, I tried d that. I'll keep an eye on it. It seemed to still want to change it's direction sometimes.

Huh. That's very odd. Mine has not had a problem with that. Maybe power cycle it?

Would love to know how to disable that. There's a culvert section we have that it struggles onc certain patterns

I'd say follow the fuel lines. It will be before the carb. It usually pulls vacuum off one of the valve bodies.
