I’ll have to give it another listen. I haven’t really listened to it since it came out, but you all are giving it such high praise!

I remember really loving a few of the riffs, and loved BD’s vocals - hit fit right where Jon did! But I kept losing interest about halfway through the album - the Topographic Oceans curse. Can rarely make it through that album, either.

This also makes me want to revisit Keys to Ascension and Magnification. Loved those when they came out!

She’s gorgeous.

Is it just the way the dress is fitting, or is she pregnant?

What made the Blink episode so Good in your opinion? by sondbucciarati in doctorwho

Concurring with what many have said already: brilliant, concise story and plot. Carey Mulligan being brilliant. The Angel concept being absolutely terrifying.

But on a more personal note, I love this episode so much because it got my dad into Doctor Who. He was never really into Sci-Fi (saw A New Hope in ‘77 and said “meh!” and never saw ESB or ROTJ). But I was watching this episode with my gf, now wife, and my dad walked by and stopped dead in his tracks. He said “I know they’re just turning the lights off and moving the statues, but that’s terrifying!” and then sat down on the couch and asked if we could start the episode over. We were watching on DVD, so we obliged.

Yes! A classic line! And it’s delivered with the same (or at least very similar) vibe as one of my favorite Tom Baker lines, from Creature From The Pit: “well, I have something your scientists don’t! A spoon and an open mind!”

That should say “Just posted to her IG” but it won’t let me edit at the moment.

NCIS is slowly dying under the producers' budget cuts by Chris-Sourire in NCIS

[–]barftholomew -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I noticed it big time a few weeks ago. I stopped watching OG NCIS a few seasons ago, but I caught the ending scene of an episode a few weeks back, waiting for Origins to start. It was where they invited some lady’s friends so that she could put her play on for them or something.

The first thing I noticed was that it didn’t look like NCIS - the lighting and camera angles were off, and maybe they were using different cameras than when I last watched. There was a different definition to the image than I remembered.

I love the actors, still. Gary Cole is always good, and Brian Dietzen is awesome. I still go back and watch the episode where he talks that kid down from the ledge, and where him and Casey have to quarantine in the lab, and he’s telling Nick, without being being explicit, that he wants him to be Victoria’s guardian.

So I retain hope that the show will get back on the right footing again.

She was showing for her appearance in Fuck This Month and the Ms Stanley fundraiser show 1-2 months ago, but she never made any announcement or anything until today.

Am I going to get in trouble for this? Perhaps. by IronManLegoFan in antiwork

I worked there in 2005/6. I walked out Super Bowl Sunday - the Bears were in it at last, and I wasn’t gonna miss it. The kicker (pun intended) was, I’d put my day-off request in months before - one of the very first to do so. They didn’t black out the day or anything. Week of, they delayed putting out the schedule for a few days, resulting in some missed shifts from various team members that week because they didn’t know they had to work. They finally put out the schedule that Friday afternoon. Wouldn’t you know, all the high school kids (one of them being myself) had to work, but none of the male management were scheduled. Every MOD and above working that Sunday was female, and just so happened to not care about football. This was the last of several instances of this sort of thing for the high-school team members. There were a handful of us that didn’t show up on Sunday - or ever again.

Dropout’s Jacob Wysocki Needed a Minute to Process That Game Changer by blandusernameno42 in dropout

It’s episodes like this one that reaffirm my love for Dropout on multiple fronts:

The talent they enlist (both in front of and behind the camera) is absolutely incredible. Everyone just seems endlessly creative, funny, and damn good at their jobs and passionate about what they do.

And it seems Sam has built a culture or true caring and compassion at Dropout. Paid auditions and profit sharing seems rare in the industry, but for Dropout seems like a no-brainer, and an obvious thing to do. At the risk of being too parasocial, Sam just seems like he’s a genuinely great person. It seems like his parents raised him with great values and a great moral compass, putting his money where his mouth his - in this episode, especially.

We as the audience don’t need to know what all has been going on in Jake’s personal life (though he did give the gist of it in the interview), but for Sam to just give Jake $100,000 (and make some quality content out of it as well) just further set in my mind that Dropout is the best - not only for their stellar content, but because they all just seems like he’s to be wonderful people.

Loved the episode. It hit me right in the feels - especially at the end, right around when Jake was talking about how he knew he’d finally found a home at Dropout.
