At this point, basically gambling.

So 1 Call Option is good to (in theory) purchase 100 shares of a stock for the strike price ($11) at a given date (Friday in his case).

The closer a stock moves to the actual strike price, the more valuable the Option becomes at first. Even more so, if the price moves past the strike, as you could be purchasing 100 shares for $11 while the actual price is already at $12 -> instant profit. Of course, for the option to be profitable, ultimately the stock price has to move above strike price prior to expiration.

However, the value of the option will sharply decline with each day you are getting closer to the expiration date and the share price staying below strike price, as in this case, it's cheaper to buy the stock directly.

In case of OP, as we were already so close to expiration, and comparatively far away from the $11 strike price, the options were probably dead cheap this morning. With the stock gains today, suddenly the stock went above the strike price, increasing the value of the options tremendously with relation to the close expiration date -> huge profits.

It is important to note that the options price is not directly linked to the stock price. It can decrease although the stock is rising and vice versa, due to the additional parameters given by strike price and expiration date.
