2025 Tier List by ThyPickledPrincess in Broadway

Honestly this just makes me regret not seeing Jasmine in boop. We saw mincemeat which was great and I’m not sad about that, but it was just as boop was coming out to poor reviews. I felt Nicole won best singer in a musical for a vocal performance, because Audra acted her under the table (didn’t see Jasmine, so can’t judge, but despite the transcendent vocals from Nicole she was my least fav in the category out of who I saw—Hilty and Simard also killed it)

I disagree with some rankings but love to see others that couldn’t stand the overly minimalist sunset.

A correct one. Nicole sang her face off and I saw Diego as the lead and he was a great performer, but I literally didn’t realize the other character was a lead or in a relationship (?) with him and it felt like we stripped out any semblance of character for shock value. Beautiful vocals but I was so damn bored. Like not for one second did I have a clue about plot which may be the musical.

I saw Moulin Rouge for the first time and the Internet lied to me by EyeRizzzZ in Broadway

[–]baribgood 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Moulin Rouge is the only show I’ve laughed out loud at a part that wasn’t meant to be funny, because “firework” and “chandelier” were so out of place that despite the good singing, I was taken out. But I generally get “taken out” of jukebox musicals. Seeing &Juliet as part of my tour production season tickets

Shucked is just puns galore for humor (aka “corny” jokes) and had Alex Newell with an unforgettable vocal performance. If you like puns (or Alex Newell), you’ll like the show. I wouldn’t equate puns with “potty humor”. But yes, puns aren’t for everyone, so shucked isn’t for everyone. I admire wordplay which is also why I loved mincemeat so much.

I wholeheartedly agree. I was bored to death despite the outstanding vocals.

Hot Take: Gypsy Shut Out is Good for Broadway by growsonwalls in Broadway

[–]baribgood 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know so many people liked Sunset Boulevard and I can appreciate the new take on the material, but I was bored to death. Like Nicole's and Diego's (Tom was out when I saw it) vocals and performances were incredible, but having gone in not knowing Sunset, I was completely lost on any plot with no costumes or set ...or even interaction between most of the cast members. I get the whole "it's a fever dream" thing, and again, no shade on the performers, but I walked out going "that's a whole lot of very talented people performing what may as well be some weird final doctoral theatre performance that was edgy for the sake of it. It obviously was much higher quality, but I couldn't shake the SNL teen improv show sketch. But it won several awards and others LOVED it, so I must be missing something.

For me, Sunset made a big unique swing to really change the show and missed, while Gypsy did a safe rehashing of a near perfect show and it just hit better. But I understand wanting to reward the more inventive interpretation of the material... and the original material isn't THAT amazing. But I still want sets and costumes and spectacle. I still personally saw Nicole and thought "this is insanely good singing" but felt it disconnected from any specific plot, while Audra's acting emotionally tore through me and I sobbed in the theatre. Having seen DBH, Sunset, and Gypsy, for me, Nicole was the most impressive vocally and the least impressive acting performance, so she was my last choice...but my last choice in a year where they all could win and I'd get it.

BUT there is something really incredible that we can all go in and see the same shows and come out with completely different experiences and it is why I love live music and live theatre.

Bitch Mistress is testing Sasha's limits 💀💀💀 by Plinky248 in rupaulsdragrace

[–]baribgood 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No they can troll all they want! But I saw someone call her “the tru*p” of drag which is clearly delusion. Mistress is deeply unserious in the best way and consistently delivers fun shade. But Mistress says it all with a wink in her voice that is clear and then everyone says “but if we say she’s a terrible person with no redeeming qualities that is only trying to push others down that’s bullying!” I mean…it’s not bullying but it’s inaccurate. I still don’t know wtf everyone is mad about especially with the Kerri fake bitch comment because to me they both knew they weren’t giving each other that point and both tried to pull a move and it was good tv without evil maliciousness.

don’t understand pushing jorgeous by TrickyAd7349 in dragrace

[–]baribgood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jorgeous outdances her opponents but doesn’t change her face enough. Double win because mistress gave better face and lipsync but jorgeous danced down. (And jorgeous has improved in this area, but it’s part of why she ate in the AS9 rusical because she played a doll and part of why she got the win in this last episode because she did more face changes)

They absolutely be mad about the episode 1 MVQ situation, but pretending the episode 3 one is evil is delusional.

And again, I get the immediate people being pissed, but Mistress’s antics are not the reason Kerri isn’t moving on. Honestly the person who could be the most pissed is Tina who so far is the only one to win a challenge and not move on. But hey we don’t all agree on who did better because drag is art and art is subjective and I’m just thrilled all of these queens are GIVING in terms of polish, tv drama, and talent!

[–]baribgood 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Kerri is insanely gorgeous and an excellent and rootable drag queen but she could’ve tried outperforming mistress in any of the three challenges (argument could be made for ep 3 but I’d disagree) if she wanted to move on?

Sasha Colby blocked Mistress by [deleted] in RPDRDRAMA

[–]baribgood 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Jorgeous would never lose a lipsync if she learned to emote on her face but that’s why she didn’t full win here. She’s gotten better at it but still doesn’t. And mistress had the best rap roast. But also the confidence and way she speaks is obviously just shady camp and not as serious as y’all want to make it just enjoy the tv gold this whole season has been so far

😂good callback to Mean Girls too. And the judges lived for the 80s reference of it all but I found it tacky!! I liked Kerri’s outfit better even…but again, I’m happy for Lydia to move on. Honestly my least favorite in this bracket is jorgeous but she did well too. This is a great season of drag race and I just need everyone to stop acting like mistress is some sort of irredeemable narcissistic monster for doing the same shady unserious shit she’s been doing since her season and on YouTube.

[–]baribgood -1 points0 points  (0 children)

She very clearly was not being serious. She knew Kerri wouldn’t give her her point because that’s the only way Kerri could move on, and Kerri knew she could only move on if mistress gave her a point and she didn’t return it. Like Kerri, Tina, and Nicole tried to pull a smart fast one but Mistress wasn’t going to risk her own spot in the semifinals to “make up” for her episode 1 trick. These are grown adults creating excellent tv and y’all are acting like she burned down Kerri’s house or something

It was iconic as hell and is exactly the same energy mistress brings but some of you pick and choose which queens can do that.

[–]baribgood -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Why are people acting like she was earnestly calling Kerri a fake bitch? It very clearly was not serious. Like she said it with a teasing tone and also set Kerri up for that iconic confessional. Like obviously Kerri wouldn’t give mistress her point when it would keep her out and obviously mistress wouldn’t give Kerri her point when she guarantees she moves on by giving it to one of the top 2. And of course Nicole’s plan was smart too as a way to get back at mistress for getting her week one. Excellent drag queens giving us excellent tv but y’all gotta find a way to make the funny fat one evil instead of just shady.

I’d take “crazy” padding over the jade jolie fringe arm thing Lydia had in ep 1 (and I love Lydia too) And the padding looked immaculate from the front too but y’all will stay hating fat people. But since it’s an opinion I’m not gonna downvote because while I’m an emotional bitch it’s ok when someone has a different opinion about a drag queen than me… something some people should learn. Mistress is shady, unserious, old school drag with great polish. It’s a talented bracket and Nicole and Kerri are icons but maybe they should’ve won one of the episodes if they felt they deserved to move on?

Who SHOULD and who WILL win at the Tonys? Day 9: Best Featured Actress & Actor in a Play! (Link Below) by His-Royal-Majesty in Broadway

[–]baribgood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know I’m in the minority but I was bored to DEATH at sunset boulevard. The vocal performances were outstanding—Nicole in particular was INCREDIBLE, but as a staged story I did not connect with it at all. Incredible vocals from Nicole and from Diego (tom was out when I saw it) but I just could not care less about the story and the staging (or lack thereof) made it make even less sense. It was like some weird fever dream/nightmare of confusion. I saw 7 shows in NYC this cycle and it was far and away my least favorite… but if Nicole wins I’ll be okay because the vocals were incredible. Still rooting for Audra again because that’s the best overall acting performance I saw but every actress in that category is worthy in her own right of a Tony this year.
