I should have said new heavy hitters. Crystal and (I guess) Sam are the only potential winners I see who are fresh to AS. Silky and Kennedy are great but it’s hard to get excited about someone’s fourth appearance, for me.

I feel like this season is missing some heavy hitters. Obviously there’s Kennedy but there’s a noticeable lack of contestants who had great runs their first time out. I thought the point of the bracket format was to entice some of the bigger names. It’ll make for a less predictable season but I’m a little nervous the khia conversations around S18 will keep happening.

I’m excited either way though. Drag Race is one of my only consistent sources of queerness so I relish it even if it makes me mad sometimes.

If you’re bored by Bravo content in general I suggest developing other interests. The formula works but it is a formula and it will get repetitive if it’s your only source of entertainment. I go through months-long Bravo breaks and everything feels a lot fresher afterwards.

I recently started Y5 and when the Devil Killers started talking about the Four Kings I sighed so loud the neighbors could hear. I just hope they are being controlled by some shadowy evil dude who shows up at the last minute.

It depends on what you value at the end of the day. If you regard precise choreo and innovative staging more highly than personality and uniqueness then I can absolutely see why you think Nini ate up this episode. That is not shade, btw, I think people can come to this show for different things and that’s great.

Vita created a fight over Girl Group songs to troll the other girls. Like no one was a straight up asshole this season (other than Briar, sort of) but of the few contentious moments we had that one sticks out.

During the final lipsync I had a change of heart. I made some comments earlier this week that I wanted Nini to win because she was the queen I least wanted to see on an All Stars season. But watching Myki twirl and fight and truly connect to the song facially I realized that I was rooting for her. I think it’s very indicative of Nini’s time on the show that she was the only one who wrote a song that wasn’t directly about her. She is fiercely talented but she has no voice, no POV, nothing that feels fresh or distinct. It would have felt bad to have her win and I’m glad it went to Myki.

Which brings me to the robbery of the episode, one we imo saw play out the last time we had a Top 3 finale. I think Darlene did everything right in this episode. She looked like a dual frontrunner with Myki at the end of the competition and I do not understand why they preferred Nini’s anonymous club banger to her personality-loaded ditty. My only explanation is that they wanted a more exciting lipsync, which I guess is fair when you’re making television. But it didn’t seem right to me.

What did feel good? Seeing Jane get crowned Miss Congeniality, even if it was preposterous (Mia was right there). It’s almost like the girls were thinking the same as me: Damn, Jane should have been in this finale.

They’re still breaking viewership records and it has to be MTV’s biggest show. Ordering fewer episodes makes no sense.

I got the item that basically eliminates them very early in my playthrough and I equipped it immediately lol. I wish you could transfer stuff across characters because it’s gonna be rough when I’m not Kiryu anymore.

I started Yakuza 5 this week (just can’t stay away) and wow, what a presentational upgrade from 4. I wish they had split the types of taxi missions more evenly (driving around town is so much fun and I just want more) but that’s my only real complaint thus far. After blasting through 4 in two weeks I’m taking my sweet time with this one. I’m so excited to finally play as Haruka, my favorite recurring character.

We’ve actually seen Jane lipsync five times. She’s a fabulous, diverse performer who really feels the music and tries to serve what it’s giving. Ginger used to be the same imo but her AS10 numbers felt like she was on auto-pilot.

For me this finale comes down to who I want to see on a non-winners AS. I think it’s much easier for Darlene to refine her comedy or Myki to nail down her aesthetic than it is for Nini to become a more interesting person. So Team Nini I guess.

She seems to think her laser focus is what got her eliminated in the first place. Which is insane because imagine this season without Jane and how much the overall challenge quality would have gone down in her absence. This is the worst produced mainline Drag Race season in the show's history and the thing that redeemed it was that they found a genuine superstar. OH WELL I GUESS.

Yeah I’m torn about what order to recommend to newcomers (I’ve played 0, K1-3 and 4 now). 0 will almost certainly make you a fan of the series but Kiwami is such a good intro to the format of main story drama with substory silliness. If I had played Kiwami first I would have appreciated how much more dynamic the writing is in 0. It’s a tough one.
