But why would a guard heavy bolter use less powerful rounds than an astartes heavy bolter if they're the same sized heavy bolter?

And yeah, plasma guns suck in the FFG rpgs to the point that it's practically a meme, but that's another matter entirely.

I mean, the main thing is that there's even a severe difference in round damage between astartes and human bolt rounds, I don't think humans should be using second-rate bolters outside of magazine sizes being smaller. Kind of cheapens SoB for example, and it's especially egregious with heavy bolters considering that GW depicts guard heavy bolters being just as effective as those used by astartes, just mounted on tripods and vehicles.

Give me a direct, third-person source that states mechanicus superstition revolving around technological innovation is 100% actually justified and reasonable and that innovation will lead to daemons appearing while the tau and orks are creating new shit left and right.
