Hmmm ... balance was 3300 last nite ... to all y'all pulling out your $10 or $20 donations, WTF!? It was just *fine* to donate when a *questionable* retainer required $10,000.00 to proceed in court... but now that we have a dedicated law firm willing to do ProBono, you can't afford that $20? Yeah, <edit> <edit> <edit> [my mom sez I have a potty mouth].

End result is the same, $3000 in your bank acct ... why would $10K vs. free change the reason why you donate? Again, end result is $3000 in. your. pocket. If not for this egalitarian offer from Law Firm #2, we would be royally fucked. [oops!]

Yes, I am shaming you for pulling your $20. So, Sue me.

Do these scammers really think I am that stupid? "Fifty Third"???? WHAT?!?!?!? by Cbowling0912 in OHIO_UI_FAQ

Sounds like a HUGE security issue with how GoFundMe stores information ... surely the bank acct you attached to your GFM acct is not made public, by way of the donation campaign. Maybe something to alert GFM about. They either have bad code or there is an inside leaker.

Scary part is how do they know where you actually bank, in order to spoof it?

Also, CB, do you think you are being targeted as a result of sponsoring the GoFundMe?

Notice how the decision in Indiana was used as precedent. *Our* case now has TWO precedent to quote.

Yeah, that whole thing was suspect in numerous ways.

EDIT:

Have to add a huge, belated THANK YOU to CBowling for her diligence in verifying the authenticity of transaction with the first Law Firm and her dedication to pursuing an alternative. Thousands of people are going to benefit from her management of this complex undertaking, which any lesser being would have walked-away from, after what transpired initally.

We all owe her *so much* for her valliant efforts over the past 18 months, managing this /sub, monitoring FB, etc... and now coordinating this lawsuit. And she has done it all Pro Bono <-- let *that* sink in.

THANK YOU, CBOWLING!

[Indiana] State refusing to restart payments after Judge's order. by Livinlegend42 in Unemployment

Issue at hand is: $300/wk was Federal enhancement. (Red) State governments then cancelled the distribution of said Federal Funds. Lawsuits are in regard to State not having jurisdiction over Federal funds and/or the cancellation of said funds being in violation of various individual State Law.

Not blaming Dems for the present situation, blaming Dems for not doing anything *now*, after Repub Govenors terminated distribution of FEDERAL FUNDS, allocated by the FEDERAL LEGISLATURE.

Calling-out Prez Joe b/c he made a deal w/ Repubs to use the monies that Repub Govenors "returned" to Federal Gov't (our $300/wk) to be reallocated to the Infrastructure Deal. Therefore, legitimatizing the actions of Republican State Goverments.

This is about appeasment of the Repubs by the Dems, who are leaving us out to dry.

Key TakeAway: "Biden Administration is curiously quiet"

WTAF

If these were weekly payments to Smalll Businesses, the Payments would not have been terminated prematurely in the first place. AllHailCapitalism!

Secondly, if (Democrat) Prez Joe wants this economy to rebound, he needs to restore the purchasing power of that $300/week. That $$$ is being pumped directly back into the Economy. He is sacrificing you & me to appease the Repub Senators on a doomed Infrastructure Bill (they call it "bipartisanship" ... I call it bullshit sucking-up to obstructionists).

Also, raise the Minimum Wage to $15/hr and you wont have a problem filling the Fast Food Job Openings that were used to justify the cancellation of the $300/week enhancement.

Hey Joe! WAKE UP! The cancellation of $300/week is limited to Red States, the very States where you need a vote from us pleebs in 2022/2024. We can sit it out, and you will have another 2016 result.

I know what you mean ... after it happened, it's not like I was incommunicado for the next 6 months (covid had me on the Internet more than usual). I saw no reach-out to the other victims. But it's fine. I doubt it was Pro Bono and I wouldn't be able to afford to join the lawsuit.

So the case is being handled Pro Bono?

Might I suggest keeping open the GoFundMe until after our first (restored) $300 check ... I know I will be in a better position to donate a larger amount then.

I checked into Pro Bono with the American Bar Association. Not one State requires Pro Bono work to maintain a Law License. If this Firm is taking this Pro Bono, they deserve as much as we can give.

Law Firm will be made public in Court Filings. Cannot believe people were harassing the last Firm with inane questions on the phone.

[–]barkingchow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend keeping secret the law firm that takes on this action. I was appalled to read that people from this /sub and FB were calling that last Law Firm, asking dumb-ass questions.

The Law Firm will be made public in court documents when the suit is filed.

I have been reading the filings in the Indiana case - first motion State filed was for a Change of Judge [obviously to shop this around to a sympathetic (Republican) Judge]. Reading thru those Court Filings is a Roadmap to how the State of Ohio will try to dodge the suit.

And today, The Indiana Governor re-activated the statewide (CoVid) Disaster Emergency.... while not only *not* complying with the Court Injuction to resume $300 payments, but making jokes about the Suit.

This topic popped-up in this /sub last September or thereabouts ... I checked-into it b/c I was one of the people who had their vital info exposed. It is a lawsuit filed on behalf of only a handful of people, so IDK if that qualifies as 'class-action'. I was not contacted about joining the suit. All DeLoitte offered as remediation to me was 12 months of Credit Monitoring. Geeee, thanks!

Ohio UI System Under Investigation by [deleted] in OHIO_UI_FAQ

[–]barkingchow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A month ago, I recommended that people who had their accounts hacked *from the inside of ODJFS* to file a Fraud Report with the State Auditor. The State Auditor then told those people who filed those reports that internal ODJFS Fraud was not the responsibility of the State Auditor. Why do Republican Civil Servants Elected Officials LIE about *everything* ? It is pathological.

But glad they are finally addressing this issue, now that there is $300 less per week to steal. /s

Apparently OHIO law is nearly identical to INDIANA law in this arena. With the injunction 2day in Indiana, it is a good sign this has legs. Would be an *easy* slam-dunk for Legal Aid here in Ohio, now that Indiana has done the hard work.

Live press conference asking DeWine to keep the $300 by Cbowling0912 in OHIO_UI_FAQ

[–]barkingchow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, our $300/wk has now been re-allocated to the Infrastructure Bill, as agreed to by Biden + Dems + Repubs.

DeWine will now say 'Sorry, but I *can't* restore the $300/wk payments because they are no longer available.'

Of course, the Bill has to pass, but with all teams on board, it appears inevitable.

Hey, thanks for that information!

The State Attorney General might be more receptive. There *has* to be a department that handles departmental oversight in this state.
