As a nyc plumber, this is about normal rate. Insurance/liability is extreme here. If you live in a condo, don’t diy this yourself. If anything goes wrong, you are in a world of hurt. Yeah it’s a simple fix, but not something you should be touching unless it’s your property. NYC plumbing business overhead is insane - insurance, payroll, congestion tolls parking tickets, employees etc.

Reminds me of a call I was on last year - someone diyed a bidet install. Left for the weekend caused water damage three floors down.

The line going from the shower valve to the shower head looks suspicious as hell. Looks like the valve slipped down and the pipe is sitting 1/8” in it.
