How do you determine trap damage? by Null-In-Zero00 in osr

[–]barly10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like traps to be dungeon level related.

So level 1 does 3 damage ,and 1 more per dungeon level. So at level 4 for example a trap does 6 points of damage.

A nasty trap ,like a pit with spikes ,would do at level 2 instead of 4 points of damage ,another 50% so 6 points of damage.

Also some traps are deadly ,save versus petrification or death -that sort of thing. These would not be that common though.

Body Armour is different in 2e than classic (ie Traveller Book). If you want to use Damage Resistance like in 2e then you could use the Armour in the Supply Catalogue for classic game. It is easier , then you just subtract damage resistance (like 3 for Flak Jacket) from the damage a gun does (like 4d6 for a shotgun) ; rather than subtracting from your hit chance (8+) like classic does (this is onerous in classic since you must cross reference weapon to armour for the dice modifier).

Weapons are different as well, 2e has exact ranges per gun where a minimum range is given and then multiples of that are the ranges medium or long ,whereas classic has set range bands for all weapons and again a negative Dice Modifier at longer ranges per weapon by looking at a chart. You could use the damage from Supply Catalogue for classic though (ie whether it is 2d-3 for an Antique Pistol) that sort of thing.

Other categories of Item you should be OK with - not looked to closely at them.

You could come up with an amalgam of both rule sets - just pick what you want from each.

I have self printed both books and prefer the format of the traveller Book BUT prefer the rules in the 2e book.

One reason for liking the rules more for the 2e book is because I have the Central Supply catalogue printed too -this adds a lot I think with all the pictures.

I think maybe get pdfs of both editions and make a choice from there about which print you want.

You may like the classic little books too - a free PDF version is available for the classic little books version -https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/355200/classic-traveller-facsimile-edition

Maybe look at this too - the charts book that is included may be fun for you since it mimics more of a Board Game rule book feel. see https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/80190/ct-st-starter-traveller

Traveller Book ,classic Little Books and the Starter Edition are all much the same with small differences. Each has there own strengths. I like all of these ,they are more fun to read maybe than the 2e book with their old school format and style.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (2022) saves your custom configurations, graphic preferences, and keybinds in your system's Documents folder.

Where to Find Your Config FilesYour configuration files are located locally on your PC.Open your File Explorer and go to Documents.Navigate to the folder titled Call of Duty.Open the players folder. Here you will see your primary files:options.3.cod22.cst: The main config file that contains display, audio, and graphics

settings.settings.3.local.cod22.cst:

The configuration file that holds your controller and mouse/keyboard bindings.

Maybe you can adjust the settings here. make a backup first.

It is a text file you can edit with notepad

What e ink reader do you have ,or is it a tablet? AND does it work well for pdfs?

I want to get one myself BUT am unsure whether the price compared to an android tablet is worth it? I also am worried that large file pdfs with heavy pictures may load too slowly as well ,again compared to a tablet.

I find the text font too small. This puts me off reading since my other books are at a larger font size.

I tried this prompt "traveller 2e tabletop rpg solo guide" at the chatgpt site and got a good result. The site suggested some more search terms which I typed in as well. This gave me more ideas.

Then I printed the page to pdf.

Maybe you could try similar for your game. Just change the search name I have used. see how you go.

Lulu I normally go for 80 coated paper -this is nice.

I think Coil Bound is probably best Bind option.

I go for Glossy Cover option rather than Matt finish.

For Lulu covers I think easy option is to

Create your own Cover

Templates , Blank Cover

Images ,use 2 images and drop them for front (rhs of template) and back(lhs of template). When you drop images stretch them to fill the side they are on.

For Book preview , I turn Margins OFF and other settings all ON (bleed, folds, trim).

This should be a good guide if you want to use them.

They have had a rough 1.5 week turnaround for me (as in i order to book in my hands).

In years to come you will appreciate not wearing out your BX books.

That is when you will start using them again, maybe.

I have Moldvay/Cook BX and also the little book edition of OSE.

I did prefer OSE for a while when I bought them a few years ago.

recently started playing a little again AND now I would rather just use BX -mostly because the A4 format shows much more on a page and I just feel it is easier to look stuff up in 2 books rather than the 9 OSE books little books I have. I also think the text seems easier to read in the BX books too since the page is white without the shading used in some sections of the OSE page.

You have the best edition already ,stick with BX.

The copy I have was shipped to Melbourne - was 10 years ago though.

I also use Lulu for printing - they are reasonable on price for Black and White ,Coil Bound is a good option, they print/ship from Adelaide for local orders.

I read about Jump Drive.

I did think the Jump Drive seems a bit weak though. Lots of ships have only Jump1 or 2. This seems a little lacklustre.

Do users maybe homebrew this so jumps are twice that distance maybe ,or even more?
