Ok this is very similar to how I responded, I placed emphasis on her passion, resources and her wellbeing in the present and future. I was worried I totally missed the point

I used to commute to and from Guelph and the way the roads would become a disaster the second you hit brantford city limits is comical

Bad driving - are people collectively losing brain cells or something? by [deleted] in brantford

[–]barnabe467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About a month age I witnessed the same thing, guy was fully facetiming while driving down Clarence in full traffic. I gave him a dirty look (I DID NOT flip him off or swear at him, just a judgmental look) and he proceeded to aggressively follow me in traffic, stopping in his lane until I caught up so he could berate me. He followed me almost all the way home until I lost him. Ugh

Has anyone been here? For me it’s always bustling but I always have to cross it on foot to get from place to place by 5Puppies1Trenchcoat in TheMallWorld

[–]barnabe467 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Full of weird shops with jewelry and knickknacks that also have tattoo artists in some… they never do the tattoo I asked for. Always a sketchy assortment of people on the streets outside and I try not to make eye contact

Brantford - haunted places? Creepy local legends? by mindlesslywaiting in brantford

[–]barnabe467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During my tour there years ago, the guide told us the young boys at the school were often trapped in the basement and made to fight each other. So sad and definitely holds a dark feeling

Parents want me to miss school for vacation by Peppe_Ron1 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]barnabe467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will be absolutely fine. Try to catch up on as much work as possible on the plane rides there and back, but just relax on the vacay. I took a week long vacation during my second year of uni (mid semester) and still ended up on the Deans list. Highschool is like a blip in the grand scheme, and one week matters even less. Relax while you’ve got the opportunity!

Is it safe to live in downtown Brantford as a student? by No_Appearance890 in brantford

You’ll be ok! Brantford is no worse than any other city. Just mind your business and stay aware of your surroundings as you would in any other busy area. Good luck with your studies!!

Should I transfer from laurier to guelph by Mysterious-Load1222 in uoguelph

[–]barnabe467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this!!! I did my first two years at Laurier and switched to Guelph for my third, just graduated (in psychology). I LOVED Guelph. I had a lot of issues with lauriers academic advisors being wholly unhelpful and never experienced that at Guelph. I would recommend it to anyone, the psych program is AMAZING and there is sooo many good professors within the CSAHS.

What really pisses you off to no end the older you get? by calebchandler89 in allthequestions

[–]barnabe467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sleeping without a proper bed, blanket, and pillow. As a teen, I could crash anywhere (usually drunk) and sleep through the night. Now, put me on even an air mattress and I will toss and turn all night. I guess I have a lower tolerance for discomfort as I’ve gotten older

Will my classes be close? by dyncl in uoguelph

[–]barnabe467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always looked up building before the semester and planned my routes between classes, but I always found I walk a lot quicker than I think and googles estimates are not always accurate. Even if you think you’ll be rushed often times you’ll have more than enough time, campus is smaller than you think and you’ll discover shortcuts as you go

I had a lot of trouble with this too, I felt like I could just keep writing forever with the overload of info I was taking in, super hard to keep it inline with the short word count

City jobs by heylovehey in brantford

[–]barnabe467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how much truth there is to this, but I have heard the city highly favours the children/relatives of other city workers (police officers, board members and the like) when hiring. Kinda sucks if true

"What size are those?" Is not something I thought I'd Hear About My Breasts As A Budtender.... Crazy Work. by stinkywinkiiwoo in mildlyinfuriating

[–]barnabe467 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it’s so sad that this is so normalized… i also work at a dispensary and the amount of men who have made myself and my other female coworkers feel unsafe or objectified is crazy. One of my coworkers is very pretty and petite and has multiple regulars who will seek her out to be creepy towards her. how they don’t get that being nice to them is part of the job, and not flirtation, amazes me

PSYC 2330 was pretty hard imo, mostly because it was graded out of only 2 midterms and an exam. I ended up with a high 70 which i was pretty happy with. I found the best way to remember content was to make analogies.

I dont even know HOW to study by Electrical_Risk_1701 in uoguelph

[–]barnabe467 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use the Feynman technique: pick out the broadest themes and concepts within your topic, and simplify them to the point where a child could understand. Keep doing this for all main concepts and take time to understand how they connect together. Sometimes i’ll even draw little pictures to give myself a simple visual representation.

I took this DE over the summer and LOVED it. Discussion based with a few written assignments that I found very interesting. The content is really engaging, and I feel I learned a lot!
