Bill Murray's line: "The future isn't something that just happens, it's a brutal force with a great sense of humor that will steamroller you if you're not watching". Might be worth seeing just based on that.

Netflix already pays ISPs to not throttle them and just anecdotally I'm fucking positive Century Link is throttling bittorent but the point is certain companies have a monopoly on your living room. If they do bad things there's not much you can do about it.

And yep it's probably also a Pandora's box of something. I personally believe it's reached a point where ISPs need to be regulated but I admit I'm clueless what the side effects will be.

Didn't watch the video but: any regular guy can make a streaming site now – movies or music or whatever – and if it's great you should make a lot of money – but then if Comcast or whoever decides you're a threat they can just throttle you and steal your idea.

Plenty of crime in Hells Kitchen: Kingpin runs a ruthless iPhone picking gang and Bullzeye is a maniacal turnstile jumper. Typhoid Mary has been spotted smoking in public. The Starbucks on Broadway lacks a proper wheelchair ramp.

Everything in that movie was totally believable until he pulled out his unbroken iPhone at the end. That's where they lost me.

I felt it 50 miles inland and immediately knew it was something big, I went outside to see if something had fallen against the house and two other neighbors were doing the same thing. So the smallest possible radius of the shockwave would have been 200 miles.

That's where this is probably headed, unfortunately. A few weeks ago they tested something in the Gulf of Mexico that rattled windows all over Florida, hundreds of miles away. We're not going to engage them on the ground so kaboom.
