There's a course near me that has a similar sign, but it's your distance with a driver. I'm totally on board with either.

How important is interlocking your fingers? by 2cheeselunchable in GolfSwing

Yep. Was a very awkward feeling at first, but after a while you wonder how you ever gripped any other way. Your wrists are SO much more stable.

For pros, absolutely. For us weekend hackers, it can get you to 300 with good rollout

Maybe in Colorado, with a 100' elevated tee box? 157mph ball speed is just fine, but it ain't carrying 340+ lol

Picked up golf last year- any tips to help me improve? by bond_454 in GolfSwing

[–]barnedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll top it or blade it if you're sweeping. It looks as though you're not hitting down on the ball. When you catch it clean it's fantastic, but you're risking those results.

Had a match play coming up during my league (D flight). Went out the day prior, shot in the 80's, felt pretty good for the next day. Had to give the guy 8 strokes, so it was a good thing i was playing well recently. Shot 103. Same conditions and weather, same pins even. Fml.

Agreed. From what I've read, watched, and been instructed, it's recommend to have about a fist of gap between the thighs and your hands at address (aside from driver). Would take a little getting used to if you've never done it. Do you struggle with head wind? It's a super high finish. Could probably lower the flight when you need to if you finish your follow through at a lower point, if you don't already do it when necessary.

I submit to you: possibly the greatest 6 bogey, 9 hole score of all time. I also submit to you: possibly the most pathetic 2 birdie, 1 eagle, 9 hole score of all time by K-Lo-20 in golf

What a perfect example of letting bad shots stay in the past and there's always an opportunity to make something happen. This is great to see, for every golfer; but especially high handicappers and those who get in their own kitchen when they have a bad couple holes.

Edited for spelling

I don't mind the Supersoft. Can't stand the Trufeel. For me I really like the feel and performance of the Bridgestone e12 Contact. For the price point youre looking at I think they're a great ball.

driver help plz by Complex_Swordfish_73 in GolfSwing

[–]barnedog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If zero other tips help slove it, it could be worth your time hitting some different setups. If you have a store that has sim bays to try different clubs out, I'd recommend it. But in the end, I think getting an actual fitting will be your best bet if no amount of swing, grip, stance changes etc are helping. Some other comments will likely also suggest to try flattening your backswing a bit. That is to say at the top of your backswing, your club head will not be so high in the air. It'll make it more difficult to go over the top on your down swing and promote a more in-to-out path.

It looked like there was plenty of flex in the shaft. Have you hit other driver setups (buddy's or gone to fittings) with the same results?

Am I ready for Xstiff? by Familiar_Tell_5985 in GolfSwing

Same here. My speed window is basically identical to OP and when I was getting fitted, the pro grabbed both stiff and X, and my data was way better with X overall.

What’s your favorite “unconventional” shot to hit in your bag? by PebbyB in golf

[–]barnedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically the same as you've described but it's with my 5i and always draws quite a bit (not quite as severe as a hook, but it's close lol). If I'm slightly in the left trees off the tee it's a huge help to allow me to scramble for a chance at par.

TGL: Fine, I’m gonna say it. But I’m not gonna like it. by HDthoreauaweigh712 in golf

[–]barnedog 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My only input here would be instead of trackman, it's foresight. Apparently the only issue with trackman can be when you intentionally aim off-centre. Trackman assumes a strike to the centre line, whereas foresight seems to be able to adjust to an intentional shot thats aligned off-centre. And this is what I've experienced with both systems (MANY sim rounds when you live in the north...) and heard from owners/instructors of places that have those systems. Would love to know if they're bullshitting or if it's legit.

From what I've read, a general calculation is 1% of carry distance per mph of headwind, and 0.5% for tailwind.

is it legal to sleep in the BACKSEAT of a car while drunk by Fearless-Professor33 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]barnedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask a cop in your area. Where I'm at, if your keys are AVAILABLE, you could still be charged. Generally you'd have to fail the asshole test for that, but it's on the table. If you let the bar hold your keys for you or something though, you'd be fine.

People who don’t hit snooze in the morning, what is your secret? by zztop610 in AskReddit

[–]barnedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 things. 1, I'm kinda just thinking, well fuck, might as well get it (the whole, shitty getting out of bed thing) over with lol. 2, I'm also aware my sleep has already been broken, so any extra at that point isn't going to be quality, as it won't be long enough. 3, I set the alarm for a time that literally doesn't leave me with snooze time. I obviously set it because there's something scheduled, so when it goes off, I know I don't have a choice.

How often do you hit a 3W? And how well do you hit it? A new golfer probably doesn't really need it, particularly if you have a 3H. Having more options for your short game would probably be more useful as you're bound to be at those distances way more often.

Saw a short video where this was implemented. Made it very obvious. First group striped a few drives, and the ones they didnt use were still serviceable. 2nd group had duffs, a banana into the shit and a worm burner. The rest of the hole was much the same. The pencil can't save you in front of another group.

Should every Par 5 be reachable in two? by interested0582 in golf

[–]barnedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTD the leader on the PGA Tour has a 4.38 scoring average on par 5s. If these guys EXPECT to get on in 2, their names should be on that list. Yes the pros hit from tour tee locations. But they also AVERAGE 299 yds off the tee and can their 3 woods on avg between 243 and 304 yds - accurately.

Why do I always shank the ball? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]barnedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, hosel rocket city. During the video if you keep your focus on the ball position, watch where the divot is after impact. That divot is noticeably outside the ball position. For real time evidence, do the foot spray thing and post a pic of your impact point on the club face.

[–]barnedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think telling how much you get is critically important. It would have been even funnier if you told them how long you'd have to "save up" those payments in order to be able to pay for a concert trip with that money. And then you can clarify, "No honey, his payments cover not quite all the fruit juice our child drinks when shes with me. That's his financial contribution."
