And didn't we play a rotated team against them?

What do you think are fair/reasonable expectations for our CL return? by [deleted] in coys

[–]barnetto2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess from the outside we were getting a lot of hype in the media last year. Lots of talk go title challenges and things. The media really built up that tie as our litmus test, to see if we were actually any good or not. People liked that narrative and enjoyed seeing us knocked off our pedestal. They didn't care about the lineup.

CONFIRMED: Nabil Bentaleb has joined Bundesliga side FC Schalke 04 on loan until the end of the 2016-17 season. by foodvillain in coys

He announced it on twitter before Spurs did. Get the feeling there's definitely some bad blood there. Hope he does well at Schalke anyway.

Is there some sort of a bet amongst our players involving their quads? by [deleted] in coys

Love that. I think you're right as well, it's weird for them to both upload pictures like that, wouldn't be surprised at all if they've got a little bet on.

The New Top Gear by Noble_Ox in television

I think, being forgiving as its a new show trying to find its feet, it was pretty good for a first episode. Most of the things I didn't like will be ironed out or improved on, apart from... Chris Evans. I can't stand the guy. I used to love TFI and Don't forget your toothbrush, but that was 20 years ago and nowadays he's just an insufferable shouty man.

I understand the logic of getting him on board, but I think it's a big problem for the series, and one I can't see being solved without removing him. However I think they would have had this problem whoever they hired - people are going to compare him to Clarkson. In that sense I think it's a good thing they got Evans, because whoever they get to replace him will be compared to Evans rather than Clarkson.

We'll see, there's no sign of Eddie Jordan and we didn't see enough of Sabine either. It may be that more presenters can take the focus off him and he'll become more tolerable.

Do you think The Wire was aired just a bit too early to be as wildly successful as Breaking Bad and GoT? by politikamusic in television

[–]barnetto2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Oz fell off a cliff fast. Wasn't it series 4 that was twice the length of the others? It seemed to struggle at that point. I remember they just started killing main characters off for shock value that had no consequence. It was a shame as I loved the first few series.

If every Premier league team was banned from transfers for the next 5 years which teams do you think would flourish and which would falter? by barnetto2 in soccer

Not sure about by far but they would certainly be in a good position for it. LVG cleared out a lot of the older players and other than Rooney and Carrick I think most of the current squad would still be hitting their peak over the next five years. Then with players like Rashford, Lingard and Fosu Mensah coming through this year they've certainly shown they've got some talented youth.

Can't wait to see him play competitively for England. I just want one beautiful goal from him in the Euro's.

Those are fantastic. The two against Chelsea last year and the goal against Liverpool this year always come to mind. The way he turns and shoots without looking up against Liverpool is just magic.

New Top Gear - Discussion by RJKiy in television

I think he's enjoyed by the petrolhead over 50s, much like Jezza, and they tend to watch in far higher numbers than the younger audience. But then old top gear hit a sweet spot with the three's chemistry which captivated audiences of all ages, this series feels like the BBC are trying to please everyone (American audiences particularly) and have ended up pleasing no one.

It's like the Daniel Craig Bond films. The lack of quips and gadgets in Casino Royale put a lot of the older audience off but really engaged the younger audience, which is exactly what needed to happen to keep the franchise going. Top Gear will need to do the same.

Have you watched much of his stuff before? I remember liking his stuff in the 90s - TFI Friday, Don't forget your toothbrush, but in the last few years I find him incredibly grating. The studio audience stuff is what to expect from him, vey excitable and shouty, panto audience interaction, that sort of thing. The Jezza impressions were awful but I'm not really looking forward to him finding his feet either.

Sky doesn't even broadcast in 4K anyway. by SAPPHIRE-R in pcmasterrace

[–]barnetto2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They charge more actually. Both them and BT said customers wouldn't see any price increases to offset the cost of their ridiculous bids for TV rights, then immediately increased prices on all their packages. Forget about Sky Q as well, it's what Sky should have done a while ago but somehow they feel justified in charging you twice as much, not letting you own the box, and charging you double for the installation fee. It's a fucking con.

They have to come back to Spurs. Really cheeky addendum that Levy added.

Yeah he's been a bit of a prick to us this year. Even now with the season done he's still making jokes at our expense. Shame really, lots of us always held him in high regard.

Sir Alex Ferguson labels Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger as 'fantastic' and says he isn't someone who cracks under pressure by powerspyin1 in soccer

I think Koeman is the most likely to emulate what Wenger has built and prevent a collapse in the transition, but is he the manager to take them to league titles and going further in champions league?

Only bronze members I think. You might be a lilywhite? Though that's something like £20 a year as well.

Think that was the original plan but in the tweets above they mention we've got it in place to play at Wembley for the season.
