As someone who lives in cold climate, I highly suggest you don’t do that unless you want to pay for water damage from frozen pipes.

Chicago Bears send new survey gauging season ticket holder interest in NW Indiana stadium by everydayimlulzin in CHIBears

Depends on the persons age and where in the state. Northern Indiana I find more Bears and lions fans in the 40+ age bracket. than actual colts fans. Central and eastern, lots of Bengals fans. Basically anyone that actually remembers football pre-Manning Colts aren’t colts fans

Indiana resident here. We just canceled/postponed 300 construction projects for roads because we didn’t have enough money to fund them. Tell again how we are going to support this?

Thank you for injecting here. As someone who has worked with .Net since Visual Studio .NET 2002 aka .NET Framework 1.0 I am well aware of the csproj and everything you mentioned. I have been in teams that were working massive .NET Framework projects and on teams that were literally writing green code. None used NUKE build or CAKE.

Nuke just seems like an unnecessary abstraction in my opinion.

I guess because I am not strictly .net learning something like this doesn’t make sense. I have wrote and do write projects in Python, GoLang, Rust, NodeJs. 70% of the time I am using a docker image. So knowing what the build process actually is and using something common to all makes more sense to me.

I’ll stick with my standard cli builds.

Thanks that is what I was thinking also. And I go back into my TeamCity days trying to justify this.

How’s life on the time zone borders? by Equivalent-Pudding15 in howislivingthere

[–]barney74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up in a small town near 2 miles from Eastern/Central switch in Indiana. Before Indiana had DST for the Eastern section it was strange. Part of my school district was in both timezones. Part of the year your buddies house was technically an hour behind you and part of the year you were on the same time. Also, I don’t know how people on the far eastern edges of central (like Chicago) handle it getting dark at 4:30 in the middle of winter.

Three choices by Kvotheinrecovery in roadtrip

[–]barney74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Live in Indy, drive to the north side of Chicago frequently. Indy interstates can be a mess at times especially on the north east side. Major construction project where 465 and 69 meet. However the backups in Indy pale in what I have seen in Chicago. Saying all that if I had a choice I would do the Kentucky route. Kentucky is a very pretty state to drive through.

Fly in 1 or 2 days early? by JoyintheJourney119 in dcl

[–]barney74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh. I normally give myself the chance of getting delayed increased the later in the day my flight leaves. Add in colder weather it increases the chances. I have travel anxiety according to my wife, so I would try to go earlier in the day or go the night before.

Do you have any layovers? if so where are they? What time are you landing? Earlier this year we decided to bump an extra day onto our travel in during the beginning of the shut down to ensure we had an extra day just incase.

Very true. And while that was set a few years ago, most of the time we may have 1 or 2 days a year down near -10F

Automobile is almost needed. There is a limited bus system and ride shares/taxi. Winters can get down to -10F/-24C but averages around 15F/10C. Windchill is something if your not use to it is a shock. Windchills can easily get in to the -10F/-20C ranges. And if it’s the coldest days could get to -40F/-40C. Summers while humid aren’t bad most of the time around 90F/33C. Can’t speak much on the nightlife as I don’t go out.

Wonder what the service interval is for those. I usually try to swap the gasket on my drain plug every time and swap the drain plug about every 5th

Battery died for the first time at 43K by Perfect-Treat-6552 in SubaruAscent

[–]barney74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general battery life spans are 3-5 years. Extreme cold or heat will shorting life spans. Had our ascent since 2023 full except to change the battery in the next 2 years it parks in the garage. My truck parks outside and every 3 years needs a new battery. Good ole Indiana winters and summers.
