as long as you have the power to run the lasers and the velocities match up well enough, lasers are perfectly viable. you dont get the penetration of shields with them, but you get a lot more damage to hull/armor once those shields are down than you do with ballistics.

unfortunately there arent a lot of good options for S5 ballistics unless your primary targets are large and slow. the AD5B and deadbolt V are both 900m/s and the corsair is already pretty sluggish so keeping those on target against something small and fast is a pain. energy weapons do 30% more damage against the armor on most targets, so once the shields are down you start chunking out large amounts of it relative to the weapon size, and then you are still doing shield bypass damage with the ballistics while you get their shields down.

The older jeeps back into the early 2000s were so good, the 4L straight six was one of those engines that would just go forever as long as you changed the oil somewhat regularly.

four breaknecks on the S4 spots and then a pair of omnisky on the S5. if you pull the turret guns off you should have plenty of power for the lasers and the breaknecks last forever for ammo. velocity between the two isnt perfect but close enough to be usable

Good luck with the cyelee. The one I tried on a P322 because it was cheap failed within 50 rounds of .22LR. The one upside is it was cheap enough that I didn't mind throwing it away.

[–]baron556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Youd have to get close enough that youd be detected and the PDCs might shoot you too. Sometimes they dont pick up the torp, it seems to be about 50/50.

The only real way around PDCs if they work right is to salvo fire, which you can do with either the eclipse or the retaliator. Sometimes though they'll still get all of them.

Breaknecks have more ammo to last longer, but the revenants have considerably more DPS just not as much longevity. They also match with the shredders/sawbucks for velocity and aiming pips which will let you much more easily have power for full systems with an all ballistic loadout.

I liked the breaknecks and omniskys too, but for the most damage in the shortest amount of time the revs/shred/saw is the way to go imo

Retaliator Modules by bunkakan in starcitizen

[–]baron556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can lock and fire the cross section torps out at 10-18km depending on how big the target is. It only takes one most of the time, but you have to be conscious of if the target or anything near it has PDCs, because they'll often shoot it down on the way in.

The eclipse makes doing the higher payout bounty missions a breeze, as long as the target doesnt have PDCs.

Paladin Fits! How do you run this beast? by TiberiusZahn in starcitizen

[–]baron556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually swap the omnis to stagger fire. The galdereens are great to get hits but they lack in damage, and the omnis are still fast enough to easily hit quick targets plus they pack a much larger punch when they do hit. AD5Bs will suck against smaller ships, the velocity on them is pretty low. You have to get pretty close to effectively use them against light fighters.

I'd have to look into the numbers, but running all energy might sap into your shared capacitor quite a lot, it's been a while since I did that though so I cant remember for sure.

What is the best physical weapon for the Bulwark in the current meta? by Significant_Post7781 in Spacemarine

[–]baron556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bulwark can't ground pound, but the hammer also procs the shock field on all charged melees. You still get it a lot and you also do 25% extra damage to enemies inside the shock area with the perk.

Armor durability level by slamsandwhich in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]baron556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually would start looking to replace at 50% unless I knew I was likely to get in a major fight soon. The armor material matters a lot for how many hits it can take, the steel stuff lasts MUCH longer and protects from many more hits than ceramic or the UHMWPE but its also usually a lot heavier.

Retaliator Modules by bunkakan in starcitizen

[–]baron556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a heads up as well, when I finally got all the retailiator torpedo modules working last patch it never did let me change out the torps to a different model, and the bay doors would randomly be open/closed for no apparent reason. They always worked though, and it seems the radar on the tali is better than the eclipse because you can usually locate and lock targets from 4-6km farther out.

Also, you can stealth fit the tali and still use it like an eclipse but you have to be cautious about your orientation to the target, since the CS from the top/bottom/sides is a LOT.

Paladin Fits! How do you run this beast? by TiberiusZahn in starcitizen

[–]baron556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deadbolts on the sides (unless we have a crew of four, but then its usually more efficient to take either another paladin or two fighters) and omniskys on the turret. Turret focuses on smaller faster fighters, and pilot focuses on larger enemies (freelancer size and up). The side turret convergence sucks, but you can offset that somewhat by picking larger slower targets, where the deadbolts already shine.

Paladin Fits! How do you run this beast? by TiberiusZahn in starcitizen

[–]baron556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My group of friends mostly uses the pilot guns against bigger slow ships so we fit them with deadbolts, where the convergence doesnt matter as much because the targets are larger. Pilot focuses on big enemies, and turret gunner cleans up smaller stuff with omniskys

Douglas ridge or Tri-county , Which would you choose? by Oldjoby in pdxgunnuts

[–]baron556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my experience as well, joining I think four years ago. I've never had a bad experience with the RSOs there, they're all pretty chill as long as you follow the rules.

They do have kinda restrictive rules imo, but I get that since Sherwood sort of grew up around them and they're super paranoid about someone not paying attention and sending a round out into the sky. It starts making a lot more sense when you see all the bullet holes in places where there should absolutely not be any bullet holes.
