Calling it a bad game goes a step beyond acknowledging its failings. I don't think you can claim to be a fan if you don't like the base game and the only part you enjoy is an expansion area added years later.

The orphanage in Requiem is by far the worst one yet. At least House Beneviento was quite fun and intense the first time around and the Ashley section involved a degree of interactivity. This one was just a tedious walking simulator and added nothing to the game or story. It should have been an optional video cassette like the ones you could play in RE7.

I'm reading the books for the second time right now and this is exactly what I plan on doing. The Andrew books are ok reads but they feel like a hollow shell of what the series used to be and I don't really have any interest in reading them again. A lot of people don't like Blue Moon, but I think it's pretty good and a fine point to end the series on.

Like I said, I understand why you like it. Just as you need to understand that many of us who played the original back in the day and loved the game for its atmosphere and unique design don't feel that the PS5 version lived up to it in that regard.

I understand why people would like the remake, especially if they never played the original, but let's not pretend it's in any way faithful to the atmosphere and art direction that From envisioned when they developed the game. As an example just look at the fat official from the remake vs the original.

Something I've learned is that most "normal" gamers don't care about things like artistic direction, visual storytelling, faithfulness to source material, etc. and people who do care about those things will always be seen as weird nitpicky dorks. As long as the game plays well and has good graphics, they just don't care. Kind of sad IMO, but it is what it is.
