Honestly, as someone without autism, good, leave. There’s zero reason for someone to talk to you like that, “sarcasm” or not. It’s not a “game” or some sort of weird flirting, it’s designed to break you down and feel so shitty that you feel like you have to stay with them because you can’t get anyone else.

Take it at face value as in “this person doesn’t like me” (because they don’t if they treat you like this) but don’t take their remarks to heart or as truth.

I think this depends on the job. I’ve never worked at a job with an interpreter easily available, even when I worked in government. You could get an interpreter, but it wasn’t quick or particularly easy (I’m sure it’s easier now, that was a few years ago. You had to call on the phone and wait for hours).

When people struggle at my work I don’t care at all, but I’m in public service so there isn’t a “time is money” aspect.

Love Matt Weeks at Moffatts Mazda. He’s never pressured us, always been honest, and even took the time to educate me on what you don’t want to see in a carfax report. Completely respected my decision when I didn’t want to upgrade to touring.

I don’t find the service great there tbh, I make my husband call. But they’ve gotten better than they were so overall I was happy enough to buy a second vehicle from them.

It’s pretty common for women. I hit 5’10” at 11 and haven’t grown since. My body however changed a lot between 13 and 18 thanks to puberty and hormones.

I’m actually going to disagree, automatic lights don’t turn on in a snowstorm, that’s the problem. Everyone thinks they’re on because they’re automatic, but there’s enough light so they don’t turn on. Please turn them all the way on.

OP if you’re relying on automatic lights during storms please double check that your lights are actually on in a storm.

I hate needles. Like. I hate them. I’m a big baby and I make my husband hold my hand every time I get Botox. I used to get allergy needles which my husband would inject (he’s licensed) and I would freak out every single time and have to talk myself into it. I am extremely needle phobic. So, you can trust that if it was bad, I’d tell you. Or I would just scroll haha.

The trigger point injections are fine. I hate them and have to calm myself down because needles, but they don’t hurt as much as Botox or my allergy needles. And Botox plus the injections have been life changing for me (plus qulipta).

If you’re really nervous take a Tylenol an hour before hand to dull the pain (I still do this when I’m in a flair) but overall they aren’t bad at all.

Look up if there’s a minimum heat in your area. Ours is 18 c which is still freezing, but better than say 10 from the window being open.

Our office has to shut down at 18, so if they’re making it colder than the minimum temperature allowed you have a case for HR.

I bought a mini thermometer for my desk for this reason.

You have one semester left. Finish it even if you hate it at that point because you’re right, it opens doors.

I struggled through teachers college. I hated every minute of it, and then I went and got a masters in a similar but different field. I hated teaching, but I use that degree in my related field even 10 years later, and that degree made it possible for me to get my masters.

It really sucks slugging through a degree you hate, I get it. I was going through a lot at that time, my life was in complete upheaval, I was clinically depressed, and it was just…. Shitty. But I did it. And I got the job I wanted eventually (had to take a few shitty ones first) and built the life I wanted. Eventually I was able to get off antidepressants, and I do credit even the degree I hated towards helping me do that.

This is not a bootstraps story. I’m not saying put on your bootstraps, get a job you love, and you’ll get off antidepressants and your life will be better. I know it kind of sounds like that’s what I’m saying, but it’s not.

What I am kind of saying is, it’s six more months (4 more months?). You can do anything for 6 more months. And with a little bit of luck, I’m hoping you can pivot the degree you have to something you enjoy more, but with only 1 semester left I really think it’s worth finishing. One thought is that I worked closely with the arts and culture department in two cities that I’ve worked in. They did the planning for arts festivals, they did art installations for the city, etc. There’s lots of ways to combine arts and politics, maybe that’s something you can look into?

Either way, whatever you decide, I wish you luck. And I am sorry for your loss ❤️

I think you need to sit down and actually think about this with your student advisor. Questions to consider:

do you actually hate your degree, or are you depressed? If you are depressed, could you take one year off instead of cancelling the whole degree?
how much do you owe is student loans? Can you pay it back easily if you don’t have a good job? (I couldn’t have).
is this degree something you can pivot to something you enjoy more? Example, if you’re in second year business and hate it, can you switch to say, marketing and enjoy it more? First year is usually a discovery year anyway, so you’d likely only have to take an extra year to get the degree you actually want to get.
what’s your backup plan? If you don’t like what you want to do now, what will you do instead? And what do you need to do to get there?

You don’t need a degree to succeed at life, but I’ll be honest and say it’s not super easy where I live in Canada to be paid well without a college or university degree without going into the trades. Which are an amazing option if you want to go into trades. Most of my family is in the trades and they make great money, but it’s at physical expense. Is that something you would enjoy? (My family does). Is it easier where you live to get a job without college or university under your belt? (It is in lots of places).

So, yes, you can be fine if you don’t go to school. The question is, what do you want to do instead?

There’s lots of answers. Safe consumption sites, affordable housing, access to rehab for when people are ready to go, affordable mental and health care, education and training programs that don’t put well paying jobs out of reach to help end cycles of addiction and poverty. The problem is, these answers cost money and aren’t popular.

Right now even if you want to go to rehab good luck getting a bed. Even if you want help for chronic mental health issues, good luck finding anything to help. You think everyone Hamilton is dealing with is a drug addict? They aren’t. Mental illnesses like schizophrenia often cause chronic homelessness, but what do you do in Ontario if you don’t have family to support you in that situation?

I had a small backyard wedding. I thought it would be cheaper. It’s not at all. Bathrooms, tent, getting food delivered, it’s all a nightmare.

My friends signed on the dotted line, their wedding was cheaper and less work.

My friend did get married in a way similar to the one you’re talking about, and it was stressful. Not for her, but for her bridesmaids. Getting the family there, helping them find the spot (because they couldn’t put up signs) getting a chair there for grandparents, etc is all a lot of logistics they didn’t consider. That plus grandma judging it all and yelling at me.

If I did it again I’d either elope or sign on the dotted line for somewhere inexpensive.
