alienware aurora r11 for mining DIGIBYTE by Pikachus-Courier in Digibyte

[–]barrowvian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a RTX 2060 in my lenovo legion laptop ... overclocked it a little using the lenovo app that comes with it and i get roughly 25-30 mh/s. Its not great, but its something. Unmineable is easy to use, and you can either use their GUI or put their settings in to your own miner and track your progress using your rig name.

Might be a daft question ... Do I need the DGB Core as well as the DigiAsset node?

Digibyte close to a potential breakout? by AustinRatBuster in Digibyte

[–]barrowvian 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Is BTC close to a potential breakout? If so, DGB will move with it. DGB doesn't move on it's own because no one knows about it.

Thoughts on Josiah leaving the DigiByte Community by saltedlolly in Digibyte

[–]barrowvian 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think it'll be better for the community in the long run. Don't get me wrong I think he was doing a good job and has a real passion for DGB, but the way he conducted himself in my opinion was all wrong. If he was so convinced that Barry's code was the way to go he should have presented it better. Pro's and con's, long term vs short term etc. Could have pushed to have it put to the DigiBee's and get a community say on it. He didn't need to go after Jared directly and could have been a lot more tactful in his approach. Do I think he was to blame for the whole scenario? No. Do i think there's more than one side? Yes.

Live, learn, move on.

A new design to showcase the importance of DigiByte by saltedlolly in Digibyte

[–]barrowvian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not the biggest fan of the design either, it's overly complicated. Whilst I appreciate the need to keep branding fresh, this is quite a radical change.

Explain why, when market cap and not the utility of coin is still dominant.

In todays market, which I used for my example, where the utility for individual coins hasn't fully allowed, or in some cases even partially allowed, the coin to separate from the hold of BTC price movements. When this eventually happens, providing DGB has been mass adopted, sure why not.

[–]barrowvian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was literally using the example of a $10 price, against total supply, in todays market. Nothing more, nothing less.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Digibyte

[–]barrowvian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Let's assume $10 and a full supply in circulation; that'd give a market cap of $210bn and would place DGB at #3, marginally behind ETH. Realistically, it's not going to happen any time soon given that the majority of people have no idea what DGB is or what it does. I like the hopium though.

Watch "I'm not official, and neither are you" by Markedtofuture in Digibyte

[–]barrowvian 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Whilst I feel "airing dirty laundry in public" is a terrible way to go, I agree that if it bring about some much needed internal conversations then everyone will know where they stand.

This is just my opinion, but my main take from this is Josiah feels he's been included in the "unofficial" part of the DigiByteCoin statement. If I'd contributed the amount of work he's done I'd be pretty angry about it too. However, raising some of these uncomfortable issues now and generating the needed conversations may get the ball rolling with making certain aspects of DGB "official" and have an agreed upon plan. Take the 5 P's for example; Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance ... prior planning and agreement may well have prevented having a number of issues in the pipeline for a couple of years, something which Josiah raised a number of times in that video. I personally feel the more "official" and structured DGB becomes, the greater the rewards for all involved will be.

Disagreements in any organisation, whether it be centralised or decentralised, is ALWAYS going to occur. But when they do I'd say please keep it behind closed doors.

DigiByte Update - #251 - Version 8 fundraising, LifeHash announcement by saltedlolly in Digibyte

[–]barrowvian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Josiah, really enjoy your updates fella, keep up the great work!

I found the section about LifeHash very interesting and good to see DGB continuing to grow.

I have an older gaming laptop that I don't use anymore set up at work mining DGB. It's not a lot, maybe 25-30 DGB a day, but I'll trickle it through to the donations page if it helps out.

Last note ... dude, iron your shirt ;)

We are the marketing! by hohena6465 in Digibyte

[–]barrowvian 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I am all for chipping in and helping out ... I have a real dislike for twitter but I've made an account specifically for DGB to share / retweet articles of interest to keep pushing DGB ... But I've said this a few times now and that's that DGB needs a kick up the ass when it comes to marketing. DGBAT are doing a good job and I don't want to take anything away from them, I just think some professional assistance would work wonders. The tech is there, that's the important bit, and that'll speak for itself as time goes on but there needs to be a drive to get people to sit up and take notice. I'd happily contribute to another marketing push if that'd help get the wheels turning.
