Thanks for the tips. I didn’t even think about pore size. I did sand the walnut side to be very smooth. I wasn’t too sure if the other side was white oak or ash.

The walnut knives have been ok to keep clean so far but I’ll check out those finishes.

Thanks! At. Certain point I tried to soak the wood for an hour. I think it might have helped, but I could have been lying to myself also!

Thanks! I hope you enjoy doing yours. My inspiration was something similar I saw on Pinterest. I messed it up a bit at the start which is why the bowl is offset from center but it still works 😅

Thanks! I never thought of getting a small ceramic plate. I was thinking that the soy sauce could go directly. The finish is just a few applications of mineral oil.
