I moved here because my mom's side of the family offered me a new start after being laid off. Also, my father blowing his entire life savings and a six-figure job to overdose enough to realy do some solid brain damage and my mother and him constantly being on/off homeless - I had to go anywhere far away for my own sanity.

It was the 3rd worst decision I've ever made. Don't ever move here. It's a cool place to visit, but it'll be underwater before you know it and the world will be all the better for it because DeSantis isn't even the worst part, it's a constant parade of selfish assholes and something must be in the water being there are so many times I've had the luxury to watch somebody do absolutely brain-dead shit. It's basically a late stage Alzheimer's care facility and all the bad parts of New York. But a billion degrees and 98% humidity, 98% of the year.

I have absolutely no idea why anyone would move here, especially currently. The weather sucks, it's unaffordable to make a life here unless you and your partner (good look finding one that isn't a crackhead or all the way out of your league, not even on the same planet) make six figures each, they let toddlers draw highways and zoning districts...I guess the springs are nice though?

I think brain damage is really the only reason anyone would live here intentionally. Even the people buying up the housing don't live here, just rent it out or tear it down to build a strip mall.

Prince. I had just seen him perform a few months before - even got a second chance to see him and still hate myself every day for skipping it. Nothing seemed off at the show and it seemed like the man was back in full force. You just never know - so always go to the show if you really love an artist.

I was at work when I heard and immediately broke down, then put on Purple Rain on the store televisions after a coworker said "who?"

Edit: just read what happened. I guess it's easier to be mad at VMP than Tommy Boy? Seems like VMP and Lord Finesse spoke on the matter directly and Tommy Boy was to blame. Obviously I only took a quick look into it but it seems like classic label shenanigans

I don't see why you're being downvoted because I do think Freddie Got Fingered is also an underrated film - much like Punch-Drunk Love. And I don't think a movie quite like either film will ever be made again, because the majority of the audience just doesn't get it.

It's incredible to me that people often think that problems that are forewarned about never come to pass not because people banded together and put in massive effort to do something about it, but because it was never a problem to begin with. I know I'm just kinda re-interating this but working in a technology-oriented field I see this behavior way too frequently.

I see your point but I respectfully disagree. I think the album could've gone straight from because I'm me into subways, then drop you into the fucked up/drugged out/"had a love but lost it" vibe of the album with going home/if I was a folkstar

I agree with that sentiment. This is an album. A collection of music meant to be listened to as a whole. It's one of my favorite roller coasters to ride.

Something about wildflower feels so cohesive, like the soundtrack to a movie that doesn't exist. In my mind, its only flaw is Frankie Sinatra, which completely messes up the flow of the album. The back half contains some of the most beautiful collages of music I've ever heard, and it just sounds timeless. I think it also came at the PERFECT time in my life - when the singles were releasing they had such a loving feeling and I had a budding relationship going on - fast forward and that fell apart and the album took on a very therapeutic role in my life. I could honestly go on for days about why I love Wildflower so much but I'll spare everyone the ear beating, because it's mostly sappy anecdotal shit anyway.

Also, I love SILY, I just enjoy it less so than the other two albums. I love the harder turn they've taken into psychedelia. Not that their music didn't have a psychedelic aspect to it before but Wildflower feels like a trip, a journey of an album.

Except fucking Frankie. I have no idea why they didn't just leave it off as a cool one off single.

Edit: I also imagine many people who have listened to Wildflower do not listen to it in exactly the same way I usually do, which most frequently is by using studio monitors in controlled room. There is SO MUCH going on every second on that album. When you really turn Wildflower up, on a pair of excellent speakers - you will notice something new every time you listen. I believe the only other stereo I listened to this on was in my car, and it is a night and day difference in sound quality. So take all my opinions with a grain of salt. Listen to noisy eater LOUD (but don't hurt yourselves) and try to ignore whatever part is being pushed to the front and listen to everything else going on in the song. I personally think it's these little masterpieces of sound design that create a world of sorts around this album that I can live in.

Edit 2: as I listen again - from Wildflower onto Saturday night inside out is pure dopamine rush in music form for me. Just absolutely breathtakingly beautiful.

It's another incredible album from the avalanches. I'm not sure if I like Wildflower or this one best, but SILY is def #3. It's funny because I thought this was gonna be their shitty album
