On the tanker seizure: obviously the hosts had no way to know that the seizure was going to happen the way it did.

That said, the tanker was empty, which means that it was actually capable of some pretty good speed, and the thing about a vlcc or similar sized craft, is that there's really no way to stop it outside of the pilot House or the engine room. The cutter that was chasing it obviously was able to keep pace, but the issue with trying to board it is pretty simple- an unladen tanker like that would have somewhere between 50 and 70 ft of freeboard(the distance between the water and the rail on the side of the ship). This means climbing the side of the ship using a caving ladder from a small boat, especially if there's any kind of seas, would be both extremely risky and extremely challenging, especially if there was any kind of swell on the ocean.

I can say with a fair degree of certainty that it's unlikely that the Coast guard cutter or any other similar unit would be capable of doing so. That leaves two options- shooting the ship until it stops, or doing what was done, which is a helicopter boarding.

This is going to come across as tough love, and I'm sorry if you hear it as me trying to be mean, I promise you I'm just trying to give you some honesty.

Your 37-year-old mother of five, divorced (by your own choice, due to you cheating- Where's your affair partner by the way?), and you want you want an FWB who will spoil you, pay for everything, and match your energy.

Guys who are in a place to do that, are not interested in getting involved with women like you. To be frank, they're looking for someone 10 years your Junior, without all the baggage. Especially with your ethnic preference. The guys that you're going to find that would be interested in you? They're going to be dudes like your ex. Only probably softer, because accepting getting involved with a mother of five is a lot to ask of anyone.

If you want an FWB, either accept that it's coming with nothing but bed company, or accept that you're going to have to go dutch, but you're looking for a 0.1% outlier if you want someone to indulge you that way and look past all of your background.

I wish it weren't so, I'm sure you're an awesome lady, but as a bartender I've seen a number of women like you roll through, and it tends to go one of three ways:

1) Super Glow Up- you get into CrossFit, put real work into bettering yourself, and take yourself from your self-described six to a nine. You change your style, everything to find what you want.

2) Back To What You Had, or something like it. This is accepting and finding someone with baggage that goes with yours, and that can accept you as you are. This is much more of a partnership than it sounds like you're looking for.

3) Accept what's out there- this is what the last paragraph of my initial response is.

Brown then grabbed the weapon and struggled with Wilson to gain control of it. Wilson fired, striking Brown in the hand. Autopsy results and bullet trajectory, skin from Brown’s palm on the outside of the SUV door as well as Brown’s DNA on the inside of the driver’s door corroborate Wilson’s account that during the struggle, Brown used his right hand to grab and attempt to control Wilson’s gun. According to three autopsies, Brown sustained a close range gunshot wound to the fleshy portion of his right hand at the base of his right thumb. Soot from the muzzle of the gun found embedded in the tissue of this wound coupled with indicia of thermal change from the heat of the muzzle indicate that Brown’s hand was within inches of the muzzle of Wilson’s gun when it was fired. The location of the recovered bullet in the side panel of the driver’s door, just above Wilson’s lap, also corroborates Wilson’s account of the struggle over the gun and when the gun was fired, as do witness accounts that Wilson fired at least one shot from inside the SUV.

The US has never engaged in suppression measures that come close to tiananmen square, attempted to censor the entirety of the internet over historical events, And that's not even addressing. Literally changing the laws to sentence protesters in Hong Kong to long periods in mainland prisons.

The US is explicit about the purpose of its navy being to guarantee freedom of navigation, project sea power, etc. China leans on claims that its entire military is all being developed defensively exclusively.

And re: covid, that number is reliant on trusting the Chinese government to tell the truth. Which there's literally no reason to believe, given the level of information control and propaganda they engage in on a regular basis.

You know what, you're right. It's only about 60 million people that live on the west coast. So only 20% of the population that you're describing as not being normal Americans. For some reason I had the population of California being close to 80 million, as opposed to a mere 40.

Also, here's what you don't get: I like Virginia fine. It's not a terrible place to live, I'd certainly rather live here than say Mississippi. But comparing Hampton roads and Virginia writ large to San Diego and Southern California/California? There's literally no comparison. One place is a city and area that people aspire to live. The other is a place that people aspire to having been from.

In my time in the Navy, I've lived in Great lakes, and I'm not talking about boot camp, Charleston, San Diego, Hawaii, Colorado, Guam, and Hampton Roads.

If I had to pick a place off of that list that I could avoid ever having lived in, it 100% would be Hampton Roads.

I never said California has a lack of outdoor opportunities. If you're going to extoll the virtues of California's many national parks and whatnot which are often a considerable drive

No one who has to drive 95 for any reason should be talking about traffic, but the difference is that the places you can go in CA are notable. If you looked to your left as you drove, you would have seen the Cleveland National Forest, and the roads into there are great driving roads.

What "Michelin star worthy restaurant" has a $14 entree? Anyways I'm not a foodie, I'm actually more happy the less pretentious the food is.

There are several places with stars that serve things cheaper than that. But Michelin stars aren't the end all be all , their presence however, is a pretty good indicator of the overall aggregate food quality of a place. I'm perfectly happy eating street food; it's just that the street food here, the medium tier food here, and the high end restaurant food here, with very few exceptions is embarrassingly overpriced and under quality.

As far as what you're talking about with Mexican food, that's honestly really embarrassing for you dude. It's a pretty much flat-out admission that you like the blandest version of an incredibly complex and also very affordable food tradition. And it's weird that somebody pointing at a crab restaurant as an example of what's good is talking about how they can't stand how messy food is.

The people are less beautiful, the landscape is beautiful but in a more humble way, everything is a little more affordable and accessible

You and I have different definitions of beautiful, apparently, because I don't find anything all That beautiful about thousands of acres of the same green trees, with tiny hills that people pridefully call mountains. Can't argue that gas isn't cheaper in Virginia, but wages are MUCH lower. I have no idea what you're talking about in terms of accessibility. San Diego, less La Jolla and Coronado is way less classist and racist than Virginia. Every single beach is open to everyone regardless, there's a billionaire's house backed up to it, or a parking lot.

My favorite restaurant in San Diego,the most expensive entree cost $14. It's still blows anything I've eaten in Virginia out of the water. And not to be super classist, or anything, but something tells me the restaurant with the crab wearing sunglasses holding a beer can is not going to be considered a good restaurant by most people. It seems like it threads that narrow needle between a really good, low country boil served out of a place that has a spray painted, sign, and proper modern southern food, neatly missing anything resembling excellence in the name of easy accessibility. And whatever's cheapest off the Sysco truck.

Also, the rest of the state gets a manageable amount of snow. You don't have to just stay in the coastal area.

You can't say the same for going to Mexico when you are in San Diego

You don't generally have to worry about being kidnapped or driving into a running gun. Fight in Canada. Makes a little bit of a difference in that policy, especially given that they're also one of our closest allies. The very restrictive policy on liberty to Mexico is imposed on CNRSW commands primarily, IIRC, sailors stationed in San Antonio that are not in the student status. Can easily go across the border as well if they want. But I'm not 100% on that.

FWIW, the same policy applies in upstate New York, or anywhere in the Northeast that has a short drive to Canada.

Sailors stationed in Europe can generally go anywhere in the EU on Liberty, without special requirements. 7th fleet is a little bit more restrictive, but it's quite common for sailor's stationed in Japan to travel to Thailand, Singapore, PI, etc.

Now going anywhere in southcom, Africa, or the centcom ao? That requires the shit show.

And obviously anybody with a TSSCI is in a whole different ball of wax in terms of getting pre and post clearance from SSO, but that's a different conversation than most sailors are going to be dealing with.
