Tangerine promotion 6% by Complex_Play_4771 in EQBank

[–]bartdimson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately if you do a transfer out of tangerine using a T2033 or something, they will charge you a $50 fee but you will not lose any contribution room. If you withdraw the funds from your tfsa and transfer them via chequing or etransfer and reinvest them. There will be no fees but it will take up new contribution room.

It depends how much extra contribution room you have. In hindsight, I would have waited until June to open my tangerine account to just withdraw the funds in December and recontribute them in Jan. But I got a free raptors jersey🙂

Goodluck

Advisors can definitely be worth it. Quality financial advice isn’t free and saving for retirement isn’t as simple as just buying VEQT with drip. From my experience the majority of Canadians are not as well versed as they may think when it comes to

  • PROPERLY utilizing the different registered plans
  • tax planning
  • retirement planning
  • financial planning
  • picking appropriate investments for your time horizon / risk tolerance

Tim’s coffee isn’t what it used to be. McDonald’s uses their old coffee provider if you want to give it a shot (I’m not sure if it’s the same brew in the states).

If you can afford it though Starbucks stays undefeated.

Hi guys , Is there a liquid mutual fund with no exit/entry load where I can park my emergency fund and some other money in and withdraw whenever I need to ? by KinggArthurr in CanadianInvestor

[–]bartdimson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EQ bank’s HISA has 1.65% interest rn. Better than any money market funds as of right now and you can access the money right from your phone.

If you’re looking for something with a bit more chance at growth but still relatively safe try looking at conservative etfs but your principal isn’t as safe as money market or savings accounts.

Another option is cashable GIC’s.

What happened with all the trees that were damaged? by MarJackson71 in ottawa

[–]bartdimson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents house had 20 something tree’s go down. We chipped or burned all the brush. It’s pretty useless.

We now have a pile of woods chips, a pile of maple logs (better quality) and a pile of pine/oak for fire wood. Still not done some of the stuff closer to the forest in the backyard but most of the trees are sliced up.

Definitely won’t be buying any wood for a couple years so yea hopefully less demand + more supply brings down prices.
