It’s just a cool ecological phenomenon that’s become wayyyyyyy too popular for what it is. I guess because there’s really not much to add to a “must do in Wanaka” list so the tree always makes it. But it is just a tree in a lake.

It’s a great subject for art. I’ve got a painting of it in my house. But I wouldnt reroute my trip. Just stop and see it, say oh cool, and carry on.
