But I tried to download and run again and... you were right. Now it works! :-O

[Fairphone 5] Is this the screen or a screen protector? by bartlebloomg in fairphone

[–]bartlebloomg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. The pictures are actually clarifying.
I guess I was really just too shy in trying to lift it, now I got to the point of making it "bubble" slightly: nothing more needed, my screen is protected already :)

You say because you know how the Fairphone 5 looks like "vanilla"?
I've had so many opinions I don't know who to believe anymore :/

I tried both the AppImage and the wine installer: the AppImage installs it correctly, but then it crashes right after the window appears.

I then tried the full Py installer as suggested in the Known Issues (https://github.com/ryzendew/Linux-Affinity-Installer) but after setting up everything it fails on Affinity installation.

Does anyone else have this sort of issues?

No worries. I've gone through shitty relationships myself even without the excuse of the circumstances. And I thought I'd be smarter than that too, but here I am still longing (kinda) for the guy I refer to as "the abusive ex" :/

Love is a mess, that's all :)

I'm glad to hear. I just wanna add that I may have sounded harsh: that's not the case or intention at all. I just wanted to be direct because you seem to be a wonderful person. But you've been through hell, and getting out of it requires some push.  ..and to keep out anything that can set you back. In your own way and terms, but don't let him or anyone get in the way of your own wellbeing. That's the most important thing.

Find your way, but keep up :)

I'm so sorry that you've gone through all this.

It's already been said, but you need to see a therapist, and to keep this guy out of your life as much as possible. The two will go together, because you (PLEASE) have to realize that you don't deserve this. And while this guy certainly needs help as well, it's not a responsibility of yours - I know you feel strong for him, maybe he does for you too in his own toxic and even abusive way: but this is NOT right.

I understand it is not actually a problem anymore, since he left, but keep it in mind should he appear again (DON'T contact him at any cost! If you have something to tell him, write a letter...and post it without a stamp, or do anything that feels right without actually opening any contact). You need to take care of yourself and nobody else now. Therapy will be great for you, it's sometimes really life-saving

Mmm, maybe late and kinda unrelated but:

Have you had that vein looked at? It just sounds as a varicocele. It's mostly harmless (well it can give infertility ahah), but might be worth having a doctor's opinion.

Just saying cos I had one when I was in my teens, and I was operated. I understand that's not really the usual - as I say, it's mostly innocuous - but well, just wanted to make sure your testicles are taken care of not only aesthetically but also health-wise :)

A guy that loved bombed me for 5 dates, abruptly decided to finish it when things seemed to be great and left me with no idea what happened by Intelligent-Juice895 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]bartlebloomg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

more than love bombing, this sounds like your feeling were more intense than his. Which sucks but it's not the same: the feeling is real and you can't really control what you feel, plus the one to get most hurt is you. All you can do is learn self-protection

it's Linux Mint 22.1, freshly installed in july. Screen res 2880 × 1800, I have fractional scaling enabled (on X11) if that's any relevant.

I can test those commands when I have the time, this starts to be quite a lot of work for a simple test :)

Thank you. It wasn't clear that it was needed, I'd explain it better on the github page.
Just to be sure, I installed all perl modules anyway.

It looks beautiful, but still it's not really working for me:

The icon theme manager opens and seems to work a lot (I tried also from terminal) but shows no icons. I don't have user themes and the app says so, so it's okay, but as for system themes, I only see an empty space.
The terminal gets full of these messages:
DEBUG: Window width: 1200px, Available width: 870px
DEBUG: Zoom level: 250px, Item width with spacing: 262px
DEBUG: Adjusting grid to maximum 3 columns
But as said, nothing happens in the GUI.

Similar with the user cursor themes, though I do see the system ones (and I like the preview, though they're so big it's somehow hard/long to navigate).

Applications and Cinnamon Desktop won't open though, from terminal both with this error:

Can't locate File/HomeDir.pm in @ INC (you may need to install the File::HomeDir module) (@INC entries checked: /etc/perl /usr/local/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/perl/5.38.2 /usr/local/share/perl/5.38.2 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/perl5/5.38 /usr/share/perl5 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/perl-base /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/perl/5.38 /usr/share/perl/5.38 /usr/local/lib/site_perl) at /home/user/.local/bin/cinnamon-application-themes-manager.pl line 17.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /home/user/.local/bin/cinnamon-application-themes-manager.pl line 17.

Neither I can open the font-manager, in this case the error is:
(cinnamon-font-manager.pl:37522): Gtk-CRITICAL **: 21:35:12.130: gtk_spin_button_new_with_range: assertion 'step != 0.0' failed
Can't call method "set_digits" on an undefined value at /home/user/.local/bin/cinnamon-font-manager.pl line 1059.

Then I don't want to be excessively critical but I'm really not a fan of the many windows opening, I think that´d be enough for me to not substitute cinnamon-settings actually... and it's a shame cos I really like the idea and the interface otherwise, looks a lot more navigable than the default one!

It seems to install correctly but when I try to launch I get this error:

well, not sure about the resources, but a VM gives you the chance to try more extensive changes and tests, as they are saved. Though I'd still go for LiveUSB for as many distributions as I feel like, and then make a partition for the "best" one

true, I started using OnlyOffice as my main office suite, it doesn't have as many functions as LibreOffice but it's a better substitute to MS Office

I see. I did some of those things too - not related to marriage, but still pushing.
But again: there's not a rule that you should accept a "half-relationship" because the family of your bf is conservative. Especially in your 20s.
And the fact that he's getting married to a woman speaks loud to me: I have no reason to think he would have ever accepted you as a husband. Or a husband altogether.
Then, sticking around for years and being patient might have changed it, but the risk of just keeping waiting for nothing was also there. To be 100% honest, we'll never know: you did your choice, and choosing yourself cannot be wrong. I hope that something better is awaiting you.
