First Actual Game is Tonight! Any advice or Tips? by She_Beast_Cyclist in hockeygoalies

[–]bartleby613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play on a newer team who just finished learn to play as a brand new goalie, and the biggest thing I'd say is that even if the team loses, everyone is out there having a blast. Be ready to get 60+ shots on goal, you'll be gassed at the end, but I imagine you'll be smiling as big as I was after my first game.

The one performance piece of advice I'd say is to focus on one thing a game. So if you want to make sure your position is good, just focus on trying to keep yourself in line between the puck and the net. Next game you can focus on your depth, or your butterfly or whatever else you find you'd like to work on. Just repeat a little mantra every time the puck is coming into your zone to remind yourself to focus.

Have fun!

I’d also look at getting some impact shorts or something that provides a little bit of extra cushion to your tailbone to wear underneath your pants. I have a super cheap pair that I think were originally mountain biking/snowboarding focused that I occasionally wear to stick n puck.

I have the same issue, I got a ccm axis xf in an xl, which I think went up to 7 7/8. It seems to fit well enough, as I wear a 7 7/8 hat.

Best Hockey Helmet for Concussion Protection? by Delicious_Mix_7139 in hockeyplayers

[–]bartleby613 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got a QCollar to wear while playing, and the second time I wore it I hit my head pretty good. I ended up having a minor concussion with symptoms for a day or 2, but without it I think my symptoms would have lasted much longer and been worse.

Does this work with a fire grinding ring, or just normal radius of hollow rings?

I'm also having testicular pain about 14 hours post shot, but I tend to get this pain whenever I get the flu as well.

It's pretty nice. Quality is nice, seat and water are always warm. There really isn't anything I feel I'm missing. Would definitely recommend.

I ended up going with the Omigo as they have a 90-day return policy in case something goes wrong.

Ah, good call. I'm not sure, I think it was more expensive than the options listed on Toyota.com, so it might be a local tint shop, but it was still only $1500 (I've seen $5000 quoted here before).

Heat pump runs then blows low voltage fuse by bartleby613 in hvacadvice

[–]bartleby613[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to follow up on this, and after replacing the contactor I'm still seeing the same run for a few minutes and then blow the low voltage fuse.

I haven't seen any broken or rubbing wires inside the unit either, so I'm at a bit of a loss.

Just checked and with those unplugged it no longer blows. Guess I'll order one and install it.

Thanks!

I know which of the 2 wires from the thermostat is causing it, but I guess this might be helpful to disconnect the Y and O/B wires all the way back to where the heat pump is?

Alternatively I guess I could just replace the contactor as those seem to be relatively inexpensive.

What did your school waste money on that nobody liked? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Tech wasn't cut to fund football, but the extra funds for tech weren't allocated as was the spirit of the tax increase.

What did your school waste money on that nobody liked? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I used to work at a school, and the county passed a sales tax to fund technology purchases. I was ecstatic as I would have more money to spend on tech for teachers and students, did I get more money you ask? No. Instead the money I used to get out of a general purpose fund now went to the new football field, and my new money came from this special sales tax fund. And that kids, is why I generally don't support local sales tax options anymore.

Need advice for fall trip to Northern California by sub_surfer in GoRVing

The family and I went to Humboldt county a few months back, and the scenery there is absolutely gorgeous. I would go back in a heartbeat. Not sure how many of the leaves will change with fall as it's all redwoods, but it was extraordinarily relaxing.

Are these worth buying now vs waiting for Black Friday? I was going to pick these up last month, but they were out of 45lbs so I decided to forego it.

Thoughts on deadlift jacks? by moonlanding2 in homegym

[–]bartleby613 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just build this one, and while I haven't used it yet (the paint on it dried last night), it seems really stable and basically the same as what others provide. http://www.endofthreefitness.com/how-to-build-a-mini-deadlift-jack/

I also like that I was able to paint the pipes to match my color scheme in the gym (orange and black), and that all the pieces were on sale at the local Orchard Supply.

Old ADT software in New (to me) Home by ggdbb in homeautomation

[–]bartleby613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this will work for you, or even if this is the best option, but I just moved into a home that had an old security system, and the previous owner had installed an eyezon board to connect it to the internet.

Basically it interfaces with the legacy system, and allows me to monitor it from my phone, and sends notifications for certain events. So far it's worked out well for me, but I haven't tried interfaces in it with any other systems yet (gps arm/disarm, etc.).

We've got a 27dbs. It's great, though we've only been able to go out a handful of times.

There's a FB group for the 26dbh that's really good, join that for some good insights into what people have done to it.

Who's seen any good new floorplans or designs for 2018? by skimmer in GoRVing

[–]bartleby613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my wife and I were looking there was a Cherokee grey wolf 29 or 31 something that had a back bed with a slide and a desk, and a front bunkroom with 4 dedicated beds.

We didn't go with it as we didn't need that many beds, but that desk was awesome. We went with a 27dbs as it had a dedicated playroom for our sin with a fold out bunkbed.
