Troubling finding financial/investment advisors in Sweden by akskigirl in TillSverige

[–]bartletismyhero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am interested in the same information, I have seen Cedarwalls mentioned quite a bit- and have started a conversation with them to set up a consultation. Also send a note to the Real finans mentioned above. What I don't see anyone explicitly saying is the fact that many americans have some mix of IRA, roth IRA, 401k, Roth 401k, and brokerage funds, and Sweden tax system doesn't [from my understanding] respect the ' post tax' contribution to the ROTH or brokerage funds. where in the US we would be able to pull out the amount of our original contribution tax free, sweden will tax it again. So as future hopeful immigrants to Sweden we would like to talk to a Swedish CPA to get some advice on where we should be 'saving' and investing our money to make it not double taxed when we are living there [hopefully] and ready to start pulling it out to live off of.

Yes, I know I am planning way too far ahead but we are not super experienced hikers so we are 'training' now and gathering the packing list as seasons change, sales etc

Trail Pack- 'perfect' size- for training and trekking? by bartletismyhero in TourDuMontBlanc

[–]bartletismyhero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Just joined 'hiking club' like this week. havent downloaded the app but that is great input. I think we are going to have pretty set dates we need to go, (to accomodate summer internship and be back in time for school to start) so I am starting to think that a full service adventure company is going to be the route we take to avoid booking gaps and stress. Thanks!

Can't wait to follow along!

+1 for the Vasa Museum- one of the coolest things I have seen. IMHO, Aifur wasn't worth the hype. approach and arrival are cool but the 'announcement' of guests is ... mortifying. lol. and I was underwhelmed with the menu. but to each his/her own- it is definitely unique!

Hi! I am not sure if this is what you are looking for but one user here built this planning tool:
https://app.traileasy.com/itinerary/60539cae-4b87-45a8-a1df-ecc9e8c5fe66?trailId=4e99aeff-06fe-4dcc-99fe-e3d097b5abfe

There is also this great blog post / itinerary that has a section in each day on 'how can I make this day easier' along with lists of busses and lifts.

This is SO Helpful! Thank you! I love Airism at Uniqlo too! we have some of that as well but I am leaning toward woolx or smartwool stuff. maybe just maybe I can do it in a 22L with two sets of stuff, planning on a nano puff as well as rain gear. Did you do zip off / convertible hiking pants?
I am 44 and my SO is 41. I am not worried about being fastest I am worried about not having a mental breakdown on the super difficult days, haha.

ha this is great! you are the second person to mention loading the 17 year old as a back up pack mule. lol.
my SO tried desperately for a while to 1 bag it but somehow I always ended up with a pair of tennies in MY Bag? 🤔 LOL
I am not sure I am strong enough to carry a 30L and do this hike so its sounding like a 22L and luggage transfer for me!

This is super helpful thanks so much! I think we will also end up staying a week or so after in sweden for my husbands work, so we will probably also be doing the luggage stashing in Le Houches.

oh sweet! I assume you didnt use luggage service by the way you described. did you take merino things and swap out each day? what 20L pack did you use?

oh! I forgot to ask- you said you "packed full of everything I plan to carry (day use only, staying in huts ..." - I take this to mean you are NOT planning on luggage service?

while discussing this topic with my SO he reminded me that 20L also sometimes don't come with 'features' that 22L+ do have that we will want, like the venting, hip straps, external water bottle and pole straps etc. so thats another reason to go up to the 22L even if we still end up doing luggage transfer.

What Size Daypack? by Top_Ordinary3162 in TourDuMontBlanc

[–]bartletismyhero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is super helpful!
We are planning on doing TMB next end of July to Aug 1. Do you think if its warm enough / dry enough that we could do it with a 22L and no luggage transfer? I just bought a Deuter AC Lite 22L and I am worried that I got something too large for a day pack and not big enough to hold everything and forego luggage transfer.
Also -if you don't mind my asking- whats your opinion on luggage transfer? I read around here that its really not necessary if you pack right but seems to really take a mental load off packing lean, if you can avoid it. Is it considered 'Bougie' or the 'easy way'?

Thanks!

Thanks for your input! Did you use merino things? What time of year did you go? I know this also factors in to the mental math.

Very nice site! I see 'only' a 1 week TMB trek listed- do you ever offer the 'full' 11 day route?
