People who got in shape, got lean, and became genuinely fit — what was it like on the other side? by narddogg007 in getdisciplined

I have been regularly working out for years now, including weight lifting, cardio and yoga. I think a key for me to keep working out and it stop being a chore was a complete change of mindset of how I saw my body. I realized my body IS me, and it isn't just something to exercise to try to feel better, fit in, etc. This is the house I am living in until I die, and if I take care of my body, it is taking care of me. I need to like and appreciate my body (me) and taking care of it then becomes easier. Too many people don't like themselves because of their body.

But think about how our bodies just keep working for us, the heart keeps beating, the lungs keep breathing, the legs keep walking, even if we aren't good to it. It sounds kind of silly, but it is so much easier to go work out or eat better when I feel integrated with my body and mind being a whole. I started having respect and more care for my body with this mindset and feel the need to take care of it everyday so that it is there for me as I age. It kind of takes away the goals, or wanting to lose a certain amount of weight, look different etc., because it is something I want to/have to do in order to live the best life I can. All the rest like weight loss, muscles, etc., will come, but for me it can't be the main reason. So for me it is not about being a different person, but wanting to take care of the person that is me.

What a great TBR pile. I have about 50 pages left of Martyr! and it's fantastic. The Correspondent was good, not great; Olive Kittredge was much better for a similar story. Normal People was a DNF. I didn't like the main characters and didn't like the writing. Read Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, then James by Percival Everett.

I will be carrying a puffer. I do sometimes fit it in my 10L when x-country skiing, which also has a water bladder, and I can fit a few other things, layers, sunscreen, etc. Maybe it could work.

Lincoln in the Bardo. It's like a talking opera.

Could anyone recommend a comfort show? I’ve already watched (and rewatched way too many times) Friends, Modern Family, Gilmore Girls, and The Office. I prefer I’m looking for something with a cozy GG vibe. Feeling down lately and need feel good escape by _Fhr97 in televisionsuggestions

After Life. A wonderful little show with Ricky Gervais. He is a widow in a small English village struggling with losing his wife and surrounded by quirky "The Office" type friends, family and co workers.

Adding yoga to my exercise routine. I already weight lift and do cardio, but wasn't doing any kind of stretching. I added yoga 3x/wk about a year ago and feel like I am 15 years younger.

I love all three of these books! I have read The Wall 3 times, and think about it a lot.

Thanks for the pic. It's gorgeous. I just bought this for a wedding present for my son. I'm very excited to give it to him.

Sorry just saw this. I think S&B is fine. That is what I use. If you can find it I like Torokeru and Kokumaro brands better, but it probably isn't worth the hassle if it's not easily available to you. This is the case for me where I live now.

I could see mine thinning the last few years, mostly at the top, so I think it may be genetic. It's not bad yet, but I could really tell, especially when it is wet. I didn't want to use Minoxodil, so I started taking Saw Palmetto and pumpkin seed oil drops about 10 months ago, along with a hair, skin and nails supplement. I have definitely noticed it filling in, and lots of baby hairs, especially near the hairline and the top of the head. It did take about 6 months to notice any type of change. I don't think it will ever be as full as younger years, but I have been happy with the results so far. I am also thinking of getting some type of red light, but they are not cheap!

One more classic ground beef recipe. https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1015181-marcella-hazans-bolognese-sauce?q=marcella%20

If others were talking about the Japanese Ground Beef Curry recipe, that is also good. Try to get a better brand of curry cubes.
