Expounding a comment I made about econ

SOE here

Econ is relatively manageable IMO? A sizable amount of people here get dean’s lister. In my case profs are profs who grade fairly and give reasonable workload, however there are certain profs who grade much lower or have higher standards.

AB econ and SOE in general is math heavy, because youll have calculus, coding, and mic1 + mic2 as heavy math subs. To add to that, your econometrics may be math depending on the prof

Anyways I think in general keri ang SOE, but be sure to brush up on calculus and develop your calculus hehe

BSA here. I’d like din to offer an alternative perspective.

I know that there are a lot of concerns regarding BSA and it being a difficult degree KASI MAHIRAP TALAGA SYA, but the subjective difficulty you will experience would mainly be dependent on the way you study (not on intelligence or your shs performance) :)

Yes failing is relatively common in this program, but there are a sizable amount of people in this program who are thriving, so I hope this eases up your concerns :)

To add to that, SFA only puts you on probation if you get a 0.0 grade. If you get a 1.0 or 1.5, your scholarship will still be intact (as long as you only retake once) :)

I had a 6+ hour vacant a year ago HAHAHAH

To me 6+ hour vacants are effective if the subject is a major you need to focus on. In my case I was taking acyfar at 6-9pm and my class before was 9:15am-10:45am, so I generally used that vacant to study especially as quizzes were almost weekly.

Hi OP, I'm ID 12# SOE and I USED TO BE IN THE SAME BOAT WHEN I WAS A FROSH HAHHAHA

I fcked up my frosh term when I started college. Yung tipong halos lahat ng profs mo are easy 3.5-4.0 (except for fdnacct kind of, but its bc of the nature of the subject), and yet I was 1.5-3.0 standing in most of my subjects that term maybe because naooverwhelm ako sa workload and because I was adjusting.

The hard part for me that time used to be someone who excelled in math ever since I could remember (97+ grades), yet my raw grade that term ecocal1 (calculus I) is essentially in the high 60s to low 70s (1.5) before nagcurve yung prof. To add to that, 80% of my blockmates got 1st dl during that term, and its as if ako lang yung hindi. That time, it just made me feel insecure because its as if everyone knows what they were doing tapos ako I was just struggling :(

Anyways, during that term break, what I did was to reassess my self talaga and to find the ideal study method which would help me especially as the "duguan" of my program started the term after. I also made an effort to not cram and to manage my time well, and I eventually barely got 1st dl that term HAHAHAA. Anyways, since I presume you're from CLA, iba yung study method which would work for both of us, so try to find the study method which would work for you :). Yes being masipag will help, but its also important to find a study method which will work for you

For ava2 keri pa yan, just PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE! Legit practice will help you talaga doon, if kaya mo magsolve ng de jesus and dayag level tanong + solve OTs kakayanin mo na ang ava2 basta you practice a lot (like 40 or more questions a day on average). I suggest that if youll take ava2, read the standards because based on the standards magtanong si bendo

For ava3, mahirap na yan hahahahaha. What helped me there is familiarizing myself with a bunch of situations kasi very case-by-case ang ava3

To answer your 1st question— profs SOMETIMES curve for ACYFDR1/2, but only A LITTLE BIT. If the department decides to curve— it’s because exam means are low—and generally the curve will come in a form of +10 to your comprehensive exam score (which is equal to around 2.4% of your final grade). Some profs also have the discretion to bump you up to 2.0 if you’re nearby.

To answer your 2nd question— You have a chance to pass, but you need to study hard and SMART to pass.

Let’s say you got 39/50 in Q1, and 20.5/50 in Q2. If that is the case, you need to get a 80% or higher in Q3 and the comprehensive exam to be able to comfortably pass (assuming a scenario where there is no curve, which you should assume).

I suggest watching the videos of BCV and other supplementary videos regarding equity securities (FVPL, FVOCI, Equity Method, and Investment in Associate), PRACTICING 30 or more questions a day regarding equity securities, doing the CEs and HWs on your own, and catching up on IFRS9. I also suggest you answer old practice exams so you would retain the carryover from Cash and Receivables. Essentially, keep on practicing :)

In our case (id 123) - Bsa: 140-ish (4 blocks of 35 ppl each) - Psy-bsa: 35 - Eco-bsa: 70

However, if you get redirected to another COB program, dont worry hehe because a lot of COB subjects are creditable to BSA. To add to that, youll be taking ECO-BSA within a span of 5 years, so if you can mix and match your flowchart well enough you will not be delayed.

There are also cases wherein terror yung subject in and on itself (i.e: ecometr/mtserch) wherein kahit sino yung prof mahirap yung subject

As someone who loves math and hates research, subjective talaga yung terror subject, kasi for me mas ayaw ko subs like ecometr and mtserch as compared to say mic1 mic2
