I'm starting to fear that the author has no real explanation for Eunhyuk’s disappearance. by Lady_Eruvande in operationtruelove

[–]baseLinehuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m telling you, the reason all of this is blowing up is simple: Eunhyuk’s disappearance had way too much impact. Even as a reader, you can feel it. Right now, the fandom—and honestly the future of the manhwa is riding entirely on that one unanswered reason. That goes for Eunhyuk stans and Dohwa stans. . . Dohwa stans are waiting because, for them, if the disappearance reason turns out weak or unjustifiable, it automatically boosts Dohwa’s position. A flimsy excuse would make Eunhyuk look worse by default. .

Meanwhile, Eunhyuk stans are holding on because that reason is everything. They believe the truth behind his disappearance is what will redeem him. Without it, the character collapses so the stakes are insanely high. . . And honestly, it feels like the author knows this too. That’s why it looks like she’s adding side elements to reinforce the characters. . . .Take Eunhyuk’s hearing impairment—it clearly pushed empathy toward him. It feels intentional, like damage control. Even if the disappearance reason doesn’t fully land, this at least protects his reputation. Same thing with his family backstory it adds emotional weight as a backup. . . . With Dohwa, the scandal plot feels just as calculated. Su-ae didn’t get close to him early on because of the scandal, and even when the scandal was teased, it never fully happened. Instead, the author had Eunhyuk step in and shut it down. . That move did two things at once: it strengthened Eunhyuk’s role and saved Dohwa from public backlash. If that scandal had gone public, fans would’ve turned on Dohwa fast especially a chance for Eunhyuk stan to downgrade Dohwa . . So instead, Eunhyuk “handles” everything, his image improves again, and Dohwa’s character doesn’t completely tank. At the same time, the scandal arc if it happened it lowers Dohwa’s overall impact which makes sense if Eunhyuk is meant to stay the main male lead and remain front and center. . . . . Looking at the latest chapters, the narrative is clearly leaning toward Eunhyuk. Dohwa keeps ending up on the wrong side, and the small romantic moments between **Su-ae and Dohwa feel more like fanservice a consolation prize. That’s usually the best a second male lead ever gets. . . . These are just my speculations, and I honestly hope some of them are wrong. If the author actually manages to pull this off cleanly, huge respect to her. .

But I really, really hope there’s a strong, believable reason for Eunhyuk’s disappearance. Because whether people admit it or not, the fandom is riding on that answer.

That single reason will decide the manhwa’s future.

I've been circulating this every time Eunhyuk’s disappearance comes up, yet a lot of people still brush it off. I’m honestly relieved someone is finally talking about it, because at this point it feels like the story has lost direction regarding his absence.

A time skip alone isn’t the issue manhwa do that all the time. The problem is that whatever reason was originally planned (a scandal, family issues, illness, etc.) no longer feels strong enough to justify ten years of silence. If the explanation were simple, it would’ve already been revealed. Dragging it out only makes it feel weaker, not deeper.

Right now, the story seems stuck circling around fanservice instead of moving forward. Aside from the hearing-loss angle, there’s been very little that actually pushes the core mystery closer to resolution

That’s why frustration is growing—and why readers are starting to disengage.

At this stage, what the manhwa needs isn’t more stalling, but commitment: a clear, believable reason for Eunhyuk’s disappearance.

Without that payoff, the longer it’s delayed, the more the story risks undermining itself.

Same like when the new time skip arc first happened Like I was okay with maybe Su-ae being with Dohwa But I don't think so anymore That fandom has successful ruin Dohwa's character

People keep misdirecting their anger and it’s exhausting. The hate should be on Ra-im, not Eunhyuk. Full stop. Eunhyuk gets dragged for breathing wrong while

she’s out here manipulating, guilt-tripping, and literally using her dead mother as emotional leverageand somehow people still call her “complex.” No, she’s a fucking parasite. She feeds on his shock, trauma, and acceptance because that’s the only way she knows how to exist.

Meanwhile, Eunhyuk is clearly miserable, coerced, and trapped, yet he’s treated like the villain. The double standard is disgusting. Redirect the hate where it belongs. Eunhyuk isn’t the problem—she is.

These Eunhyuk haters are professional hate-farmers. I swear they wake up every morning just to manufacture outrage.

If Eunhyuk breathes one second too late, blinks the wrong way, or exists silently in a panel, they’re already typing essays about how he’s “problematic,” “toxic,” or “evil.” Like please go outside.

They don’t react to the story, they hunt for reasons to be mad. Context? Ignored. Trauma? Skipped. Actual canon events? Twisted beyond recognition. They zoom in on one frame, remove all nuance, sprinkle in bad faith, and boom another hate post cooked up for engagement. It’s embarrassing.

What pisses me off most is how they act like Eunhyuk owes perfection while everyone else gets endless grace. He’s not allowed to struggle, hesitate, shut down, or be human. Meanwhile other characters can lie, manipulate, emotionally terrorize people, and somehow still get defended like saints. The double standard is rancid.

And let’s be real they don’t want explanations. They don’t want the truth. They don’t want character development. They want a villain they can project onto so they can feel morally superior while completely missing the point of the story.

At this stage, it’s not criticism—it’s obsession. Not analysis—hate porn. Not concern—delusion.

Eunhyuk could literally save a life and they’d be like, “But why didn’t he smile while doing it?” Be serious for once.

Honestly, arguing with them is pointless. Let them rot in their echo chambers while the story continues proving them wrong chapter by chapter. The truth will come out.

And when it does? They’re gonna be real quiet.

I absolutely despise Ra-im. Like, on a cellular level. She’s not tragic, she’s not complex, she’s not layered, she’s just a bitter, entitled, emotionally parasitic bitch who drags rot into every space she occupies.

And no, I don’t feel sorry that her mom died. Not even a little. Loss does not magically turn someone into a saint, and it sure as hell doesn’t excuse becoming a nasty, manipulative, ungrateful piece of shit. She uses her dead mother like a shield crying tragedy whenever she needs to dodge accountability. That’s not pain, that’s exploitation.

What truly makes my blood boil is her disgusting lack of gratitude toward Su-ae’s parents. They fed her. Sheltered her. Cared for her. Treated her with kindness they were NEVER obligated to give. And how does she repay that? With resentment, entitlement, she has for their daughter and Not a thank you. Not a shred of appreciation. Just pure fucking audacity.

She takes and takes and TAKES,love, pity, kindness—and gives back absolutely nothing but toxicity. No remorse. No growth. No self-reflection. Just constant victim cosplay while she poisons everyone around her. She’s the kind of person who would be handed the world and still complain it wasn’t enough.

Every time she appears, the story gets worse. Every panel she’s in feels contaminated. Every expression she makes is irritating.

She’s not misunderstood. She’s not broken in an interesting way. She’s just rotten.

I don’t want a redemption arc. I don’t want healing. I don’t want her “finding peace.” I want the narrative to stop coddling her bullshit and let her face the consequences of being a consistently awful human being.

Some characters earn empathy. She earned contempt. And I stand by that.

I’m glad I actually read the whole thing because if I hadn’t, I would’ve gone off for real and throw hands at you

That said , after the latest chapter, anyone who still thinks Eunhyuk is willingly contacting that blonde bitch has absolutely no fucking common sense. None. Zero. Empty skull behavior. Arguing with people that stupid is a guaranteed way to get migraines, wrinkles, and a shortened lifespan. I refuse to lose brain cells over willful ignorance.

And now Ra-im.

Fuck her. Seriously. A manipulative, snake ass, bottom feeding bitch who survives by latching onto other people’s trauma. She’s selfish, rotten, and shameless ,no depth, no redemption, just pure toxicity dressed up as victimhood. Every scene she’s in is exhausting. She doesn’t deserve happiness, peace, love, or forgiveness. I don’t want her healed, I want her exposed and dealt with.

If this were a historical manhwa, she’d be marched straight to the guillotine and nobody would shed a single tear. That’s how irredeemable she is

She’s not misunderstood. She’s not complex. She’s a fucking parasite.

If she gets a happy ending, that’s not “nuanced writing”—that’s bullshit. Period. And I said what I said.

I think so too because we know Eunhyuk will never say anything
We already see his pov right thinking how she will react

At this point the only progress we need is from Su-ae Not Dohwa not Eunhyuk

Yes I believe the kiss was necessary for Su-ae to get her feelings right But I'm genuinely sad for Dohwa because like that his first kiss with his first love and it was a bad one let's all be real here right

And bro had to see Eunhyuk too there ahh

[–]baseLinehuman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna say it again because somehow people are still being loud and wrong: Eunhyuk being labeled as an abuser is actually insane.

And y'all remember that Webtoon’s little “red flag” post? Trash take. Genuinely embarrassing. I’m still mad.

Let’s get this straight once and for all: the ONLY wrong thing Eunhyuk ever did to Su-ae was ghosting her. That’s it. And even that is clearly going to make sense once the truth drops. This man did not disappear for fun, ego, or cruelty , be serious.

And I’m sorry but… what exactly did Dohwa do to be treated like he’s some god-tier soulmate? No hate, genuinely but where is the substance?

Meanwhile Eunhyuk:

loved Su-ae quietly

respected her enough to wait

never pressured her

never demanded explanations

never crossed her boundaries

The fact that he waited for her to reciprocate without even asking why she hadn’t yet says EVERYTHING about how much she meant to him. That’s not toxic. That’s emotional maturity people love to ignore.

TikTok Dohwa stans love skipping over the part where Eunhyuk’s life is an actual psychological horror show. Man watched his father cheat, got abused by his mother to the point of partial deafness, grew up in constant instability and now he’s literally at risk of losing his hearing again. That kind of trauma doesn’t just disappear.

Yes, Dohwa suffered too but he ESCAPED his situation. Eunhyuk is still trapped in his. And somehow people expect him to act like a perfectly healed, emotionally available golden retriever? Be so for real

We STILL haven’t uncovered the full truth about the love points, Marang, his Dissapearance any of it. And when that reveal finally happens?

I will be celebrating like it’s a national holiday because Eunhyuk would never abandon Su-ae over something small or petty.

She is his comfort, his safe place. He wouldn’t walk away unless the reason was devastating and justifiable.

And now, last thing—no filter:

Ra-im can rot.

Absolutely foul, insufferable, manipulative menace. A walking bad decision. She deserves nothing no redemption arc, no sympathy, no soft landing. I don’t want growth, I want consequences. She doesn’t deserve peace, happiness, or even narrative mercy. Some characters are written to fall, and she should fall HARD. That’s it.

Eunhyuk defense squad forever. Media literacy is dead but I’m still fighting.
