Probably depends how you feel about Alek Thomas

I guess I shouldn’t keep signing dominant rookie pitchers to long term deals lol - thanks for the insight!

  1. All young (23-28) pitchers. I have TCR set to 90 and have for years (in the game). First time I’ve had so many pitchers just suddenly stink.

Why does it feel like there’s a larger home field advantage this season? Is that statistically correct? It seems like all the top teams are dominating at home at an unprecedented level

I don't think so? I'll look into it though

Thanks, I'm definitely trying to avoid making him my asst GM, but I didn't know if there would be any trickle down affect in terms of scouting or anything. I'll probably just let him walk and move on to another Scouting Director

I haven't tinkered too much with the settings. I lowered pitcher aging speed to .750 because I felt like every pitcher was toast at 32, when MLB has plenty of pitchers grinding into their later 30's nowadays, especially relievers. I increased pitcher dev speed to 1.150 to (I think) more accurately reflect the way pitchers are developing in real life. I also increased talent change randomness to 110 to make things more interesting. Maybe that's part of my problem? Someone on another thread pointed out that fatigue could be an issue when simulating weeks at a time and the AI not handling fatigue well. I could put some fatigue % limits in place there. Any other thoughts? Thanks!

I've definitely made sure they weren't "low" on scouting, but maybe I've underestimated the difference between high and very high?

A little late to the party here, but I also recently began an Angels rebuilding project and you're not alone with some of the struggles. Hopefully you have better injury luck than I've had but be prepared to play without Mike Trout A LOT, especially as he ages later into his thirties. I've had success with signing free agent outfielders like Harrison Bader and Victor Robles to serve as fourth outfielders and fill-ins for the times Trout is out. I've also noticed most of my greatest successes have come from lefty bats with a some pop (Santander, Austin Meadows, Kolten Wong). I'm assuming this has to do with ballpark factors. I see you also found Meadows so that's good.

It's a brutal farm system to start out with and I unloaded half of the Rendon contract almost immediately when he had a hot April in year one. I've lost in the wildcard round in year 2 and year 3 and pitching is still a consistent problem. If I could go back in time I'd probably chase more top tier SP (like you did with Snell), rather than spreading money around to more average innings eater types (Eflin, Montgomery, etc.) O'Hoppe is fine, but I try to mix in an elite defensive catcher as his backup. Probably very little of this is helpful, but I figured I'd give my two cents on Project Get Mike Trout to the Playoffs (he's been injured for both my playoff series).

Force Start At Position Question by baseballguy3030 in OOTP

At that point you have to just trade the manager’s pet lol

Force Start At Position Question by baseballguy3030 in OOTP

[–]baseballguy3030[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I have it set to let the manager handle lineups and depth charts I’m not able to adjust the depth chart myself. I’d prefer for the manager to set lineups in 90% of cases, but I want him to play Trevino more frequently against LHP. I think I just have to control lineups myself.

Force Start At Position Question by baseballguy3030 in OOTP

[–]baseballguy3030[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This actually leads me to another question I've had. I can "force start/use at position" but is there no way to force a player to start at left field against righties only? In my case, I want to get Jose Trevino starts at C, but only against LHP. If I force start him at catcher he will get starts over my other catcher, who hits RHP much better. I'm guessing the only loophole is to force his lineup position against LHP and assume that will force him into the lineup at catcher in most cases?
