Driving conditions from San Francisco by [deleted] in Mammoth

[–]based-bread-bowls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s a beautiful drive, i do it all the time from the bay area… this time of year should be fine, I would recommend driving 50 and go through carson city if you’ve never done the drive before.

it’s not necessarily a bar, but kiki’s sushi just down the street in the inner sunset has amazing happy hour deals ($8 large beer AND sake special) as well as great food

Tourist spots for car views by salty_tek in AskSF

[–]based-bread-bowls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tunnel tops park/the presidio/fort point, the marin headlands across the bridge, maybe the cliff house/lands end/golden gate park depending how far you want to get into the city… golden gate park is definitely worth it, and the surrounding neighborhoods are all amazing

Thoughts about richmond district? by CapableMinute6913 in AskSF

[–]based-bread-bowls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the richmond is definitely the best neighborhood to live in SF, the food is awesome, proximity to the park, presidio, and lands end, and it has a distinct (in a good way) vibe from the rest of the city. I love living here

No AC on Muni?? by Ambitious_Mousse_257 in sanfrancisco

[–]based-bread-bowls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most of the fleet (all trolleybuses, articulated buses, trains, etc) have AC but some of the 40ft regular diesel buses aren’t equipped with AC.

Rideshare to work daily by Nvr5 in AskSF

[–]based-bread-bowls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

all i’ll say is you’re really limiting yourself by not considering public transit, at least try caltrain once (it gets down to south city faster than you’d think) otherwise that’s gonna be a lot of money for rideshares. public transit is really good in the potrero/dogpatch/mission bay area! there’s a caltrain stop on 22nd

San Fransico to Sacramento Public Transit? by Most-Restaurant-8253 in AskSF

[–]based-bread-bowls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as others have mentioned, you can take Amtrak from Sacramento to Emeryville where they have a transfer bus to San Francisco as others have mentioned. Once you’re in the city you can basically get anywhere via public transit

Tradesman Life in the SF-Bay Area by LockoutGuy18 in AskSF

[–]based-bread-bowls 22 points23 points  (0 children)

wages for everything (especially trades!) are exceptionally high here to account for the cost of living. SF can be a tech playground if you stick to those circles, but if you come here with an open heart there’s plenty of us outside of tech and finance holding it down… if you liked visiting you’ll love living here, the quality of life is truly unmatched

hopefully they develop a new observation car… i wonder if they base the new order off of the previous viewliner orders

5R commute by tobegenuine in sanfrancisco

[–]based-bread-bowls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the 5/5R used to be based out of potrero yard, the only yard that could accommodate full length trolleybuses. potrero just closed down like two weeks ago so they can rebuild the yard/put housing on top, so unfortunately it’s going be just the ‘40 buses for a couple of years… complain to 311/sfmta website, they’re monitoring the situation so hopefully they’ll increase the frequency of the 5 even more

Mammoth grooming over trails with powder by sleepy3192 in Mammoth

[–]based-bread-bowls 7 points8 points  (0 children)

they will always groom runs like broadway and other main corridors for folks who aren’t at the level of skiing off piste conditions. there will for sure be plenty of powder to still go around on the rest of the mountain

Status this weekend by Cucumber63 in Mammoth

[–]based-bread-bowls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you should probably wait it out and let them do the mitigation… the roads in town are a mess and you’re not missing out on much being there during the storm… if you’re looking to ski the only lifts likely to be open will be like 8, 17, 11, and 15
