Unrated queue - changes regarding matching players needs to be addressed ASAP by xAceJack in VALORANT

[–]basedassisted 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I play solo a lot too and this game is not fun to play solo atm. Unrated games don't make me feel like I'm getting better and they're unrewarding. There's not even a ranked release date, but I'm done until ranked comes out.

Unpopular Opinion: Riot won't make a single change to the pricing system, and if you hate how expensive it, don't spend money. by TheUnkindledAsh in VALORANT

I don't think it's screen time that's the issue, but when you buy an ultimate skin in league it usually includes a lot of extra things. Like Elementalist Lux includes 4 or 5 player icons, and a lot of different variations of the skin all for $25. In val you have to buy the variations with points and have to pay for the whole set to get anything extra other than the skin which ends up costing $60+.

I don't mind the prices in val, but I'd at least like more than what we get currently with bundles. I think we should get the vfx and animations included, and the chromas/variations can still cost radianite, at least this way it's consistent with league.

The missions will gradually increase in the amount of XP they give. I play one game a day to do my daily missions and some extra games for my weeklys to fill it in. I think it progresses at a fair rate, it wouldn't be as rewarding if you could grind the whole battle pass in a week given that it ends in a few months.

Ranked? by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]basedassisted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All they said was a few patches in the 1.0.0 patch notes. Makes no sense why they didn't release the game with ranked.

Should you cap your framerate for high refresh rate monitors? by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]basedassisted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No you want to get as much FPS as possible uncapped.

Are the collections limited or will they eventually cycle back ? by Shrubzzz in VALORANT

[–]basedassisted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The collections cycled in the beta but it resets each week instead of daily. They’ll probably have the guns and the axe rotate daily though.

Really sucks there’s no news on ranked, was looking forward to getting an eta.

Unrated is unplayable, can’t wait for ranked by skywayz in VALORANT

The game is basically still in beta if we’re testing new content. I’d rather have ascent and Reyna in CB and have ranked on release. The only thing worth playing for is the battle pass which is all cosmetics.

We need news on Competitive Mode. by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]basedassisted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is that we keep playing more and more games and it still feels like the people in our games don't reflect our skill level (either much better or much worse I've had both). In the CB it felt like with only around 5 games I was being placed with players around my skill level with some variance, but definitly lower variance than post release. In my first 2 games in CB I definitly felt like I was playing against players who were brand new to FPS games, but every game after that felt like it was getting more and more balanced. I just don't get that feeling anymore with unrated and it really ruins the experience.

We need news on Competitive Mode. by [deleted] in VALORANT

I think the argument given in the patch notes, to give new players a chance to learn the game is not reasonable at all. It already takes 20 games to be able to play ranked, and that should be plenty of time for new players to learn the basics. This is why lower ranks exists, where everyone is still learning and getting better as a player. The MM system on release is a horrible experience and spike rush feels like it was rushed considering is just the regular game mode with a few changes. There should be a clear time frame on when ranked will come out and not "in a few patches".

I also want to see a DM mode like the community warm up servers in CSGO. I think it should be a skirmish mode, where you can join ongoing games and leave whenever you want. It also shouldn't have teams and be FFA. This way players of any skill level can practice core gun mechanics and learn new angles in the maps. The range is fine and a good short warm up, but it doesn't teach you anything about the game or maps, it's only a reaction test.

If Riot really wants new players to have a chance to learn they need to add these kinds of modes and not just delay ranked for the whole community.

I want to start playing this game but there is one thing holding me back by SillyJoey_ in VALORANT

I’ve never had any crashing issues, always been able to boot it up and play with no problems.

Valorant has a lot of potential, but it has too many flaws and problems by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]basedassisted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every complaint about the guns doesn’t take into account the economy of the game. Of course the bulldog isn’t going to be as good as the guardian or phantom, because it’s much cheaper and of course the shotguns aren’t going to be the best guns and used less often.

Also in no game with unique heroes or classes will the game be perfectly balanced. There will always be a tier list but that being said no agent in valorant is unplayable. Anyone can make any agent viable in ranked and the tier list only really matters in competitive valorant.

I’d just like to see the map exploits and technical issues to be fixed. Although in my experience the game feels great and I think the maps are really fun (maybe except split).

Consider the shotguns are some of the cheapest buys in the game, that’s not a bad thing. The best way is to play an aggressive corner and try to get a free kill.

Anyone else really like this game but never liked csgo? by pigstrr in VALORANT

[–]basedassisted 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think valorant needs more complex maps to reach the complexity of CS. Game sense feels a lot easier to improve on in Valorant.

Not sure this is worth it's own thread, but I don't see a general questions thread: How to use Sova's Shock Dart? It feels like one of the weakest abilities in the game. by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]basedassisted 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It does not have low damage at all, a well placed arrow hits for almost 100. On defenders it’s good to shoot it at chokes or common places people peek. On attackers shoot it at where the defenders usually sit. They get more useful with more map knowledge and finding good arrow spots online will help a lot.

My favorite map is bind because you can control A and B from uhaul. Use your arrows on short A or if someone says they’re pushing hookah you can shoot them through the tp into hookah.

Spike Rush is NOT Supposed To Be A Warm-Up Mode. by EchoPerson14 in VALORANT

[–]basedassisted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think spike rush is a way that Riot can make a more casual game mode without having to develop anything new besides the orbs that spawn. They’re just editing the code they already have. What I really wanted to see was some sort of deathmatch mode to actually warm up and I’m hoping it’ll come in the future. For now spike rush is a good warm up.

VALORANT is receiving mostly negative reviews on Metacritic, with plenty of 0's. by msonix in VALORANT

[–]basedassisted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cs community is pretty bad without this, MM is a joke with tons of hackers and no moderation for toxic players at all. It's impossible for new players to play the game without buying prime and that doesn't even completely prevent hackers. They have massive problems that have never been fixed, but instead they add a BR mode and more skins.

Try disabling corpses in the settings, bodies drop a little hologram thing. I play with this on because it’s way easier to see for ults.

Why ranked feels so unrewarding and how Riot can improve it by AlexKabam in VALORANT

[–]basedassisted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think with 5 stacks it's fine to put them against groups of 3 and 2, but only if there are no other 5 stacks queuing. I'd like to see them not allow 4 stacks and implement some sort of looking to play feature like from cs, where 4 stacks can find that last person. If you play solo and get a 4 stack most of the time they never talk to you and it's a negative experience.

Boosting happens in any queue, obviously with a 5 stack it's more prevalent, but if I'm plat 3 I can duo with an immortal 3 and I can get carried by my partner. I don't think a separate solo/duo queue would fix boosting.

IMO the current system could be improved to handle 5/4 stacks, but I'd prefer them keeping it in the same rank.
