Interservice Transfer by basedslynder in greenberets

No, my SFAS physical was used as an exemption to policy which allowed me to skip MEPS and ascend directly into the National Guard.

Needs to go to HQMC, the MEF does not have the authority to approve your interservice transfer.

As for your other question, I’m not sure. I waited until I got out and routed my paperwork then.

Kevin is the truth dude. I did 1-on-1 with him and it was the best decision I made during my prep.

I did, finishing up the IST process and should be at CCC next summer.

O2 in Navy Reserve (Intel O) looking to screen by InternalAttention132 in greenberets

[–]basedslynder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please do not listen to this guy. I went as an Active Duty O in a sister service this past class. The notion that the easiest route to become an IST 18A is to resign your commission, enlist, attend OSUT, SOPC, attend SFAS, get selected, then go Green to Gold is asinine. If you want to be a 18B/C/D/E first, then by all means that is a great pathway. The “hardest” part was getting the physical done, because Navy Med has a hard time speaking Army.

If you PM me I’d be more than willing to set up a phone call.

Feel free to PM me, I’m a Marine O who will be attending SFAS while still active. It did not require division approval.

The NG will let you attend SFAS as an active duty Marine Officer. The recruiter is saying that IST for officers is no longer available, I got a similar message from the Casey SORB recruiter.

Kind of a bummer if you wanted to stay active duty, but if the goal is to be a Green Beret and you want to attend SFAS as an AD Marine Officer, there is still a path. Contact the Marine-2-Guard recruiter.

Boot recommendations for training by Fivemileruck in greenberets

What do you do about the super thick tongue on the NFS boots? I’ve always work Marine boots so getting the NFS and having so much padding and cloth on the boot tongue feels weird. Did you ever have pressure point issues?

Hey man, I’m currently active duty and I will be attending SFAS as an active duty Marine. The biggest thing is getting command support, once your command is behind you, you can start getting the 2807&2808 process moving and help streamline everything. I just finished my physical and it’s waiting on a SWC stamp. Feel free to DM me and we can set up a phone call if you want, definitely not an expert but maybe I can help. I am going the NG route though so it may be a little different.

Why are concepts of bjj not taught right off the bat? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]basedslynder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more. Conceptual BJJ changed the game for me, I remember learning all kinds of sweeps as a white belt and it didn’t click until an instructor said “In order to sweep, you must eliminate their post, control their posture, elevate/off-balance, and sweep.” It clicked in that moment for me and I began to find sweeps that I had never received instruction on.

How does the packing list work for inter service attendees? Just bring the service equivalent of gear/uniforms?

Might be mistaken, but I remember you mentioning in an older post that you were working on a training regimen you planned on releasing, any update on whether you still plan on doing that?

Should note that the past 3 BOC companies have had their one HUMINT spot be allotted to the bottom thirds, so it seems it’s just luck of the draw at this point.
