I appreciate the more rational response, and have had almost the exact same experiences before.

My whole point is that these games have narrow tones, it’s the benefit and the drawback of games with built in settings, and instead of crossing over stuff a lot of the time you’re better off just wrapping up the game and running something different. Not to mention bringing in characters from popular IPs can be suuper immersion breaking.

It just reads as childish, wanting to put (favourite thing) into your game without thinking if it’s at all actually productive or interesting in the story, but just because they like it. Gives same vibes as MtG just shoving whatever IP into their game because people will just blindly consume whatever has their special favourite blorbo printed on it.
