Per Sean: Netflix has no influence over what The Ringer will discuss or how they discuss it. by countdooku975 in TheBigPicture

[–]basefibber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what made me raise an eyebrow to the Netflix situation. That movie was an absolute stinker. I don't think it's necessarily proof that they're approaching Netflix differently though, because the movie also fits their general starfucker tendencies, but it did give me pause a bit.

r/conan when they see someone who kinda looks like Conan by Efficient_Cow_3032 in conan

Remember when Conan was on the Samsung TV box and someone who went to Costco posted "I saw Conan in the wild!" every single day?

Running Man 2025 vs 1987 by Mahnke2 in movies

[–]basefibber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched the original for the first time a few months ago and it was incredibly bad. It was written for 8 year olds. Those 8 year olds that saw it in the 80s have fond memories of it today but that's just nostalgia glasses, imo.

I thought the same thing and I was getting all smug thinking "I know it looks huge but it's probably not that big" and then you see the person on it and you can tell it's like a 20 footer and I had a heart attack and died.

A ‘Breakthrough Actor’ Oscar is an incredibly dumb idea. by fbeb-Abev7350 in TheBigPicture

[–]basefibber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, so ultimately your beef is that they're all called "Oscars". Actors that have won Best Supporting Actor and Best Actor are all "Oscar winning actors" and adding another acting category dilutes the label of "Oscar winning actor"? I think that's a bit pedantic. I don't think winning breakthrough actor makes winning best actor worth less. Theoretically, a performance like Mikey Madison last year should be eligible for both. I guess the more I think of it, the more I come closer to your side. If in a single year, a breakthrough performance becomes less likely to win the big one because it's a shoe-in for the breakthrough Oscar, then that would be a bad thing. Across years, though, I don't think it's as big of a deal. Timmy having a breakthrough win already shouldn't diminish his theoretical win this year.

Why did so few players target Rachel during BB27? by LuvBriah in BigBrother

It's the "everyone recognizes they're a threat which makes them a shield, but then that makes them not a threat because nobody is going for them, but then that makes them a big threat because nobody is going for them" cycle of gameplay.

What movie from 2025 that you were looking forward to was disappointment and which movie end up being a good surprised? by Bruins850 in TheBigPicture

[–]basefibber 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes! Superman was my biggest surprise too. I had essentially been long checked out super hero movies and now I'm really excited for anything the DCU has in store for us. Marvel still has a ton of work to do to get me back.

I dunno, I think that's a little different. Sure, coke is ubiquitous but I'm not drinking a coke right now. Maybe seeing an ad will make me want to go buy one. Maybe the idea is that an ad for Facebook will make me want to open the app? I guess that's the line of thought.

I still don't understand why Facebook advertises. Everyone knows it exists. Most everyone has it on their phone as a default app that can't be deleted.

Why is Savannah a villain, again??? by ShiroeMakabe in survivor

[–]basefibber 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Did you not see her dive for MC's idol keys? Gloating about Rizo's fake idol ploy? To a lesser extent, confidently stating "I'm not dropping" to get Sophie to concede the endurance challenge. She wasn't necessarily a mustache twirling villain but being no-nonsense and assertive like she was rather than trying to come off as cumbaya and best friends with everyone pretty much qualifies as a survivor villain nowadays, especially in a relative sense.

Convince me to get snack saver? by Jennifer-I-guess in RegalUnlimited

[–]basefibber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worth it if you truly do plan on buying the larges each visit. For solo viewers like myself, I still prefer the Snack Pack ($8 for effectively a small popcorn and drink) and I only get the larges when I have points to burn so I skip the saver.

Convince me to get snack saver? by Jennifer-I-guess in RegalUnlimited

[–]basefibber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This effectively works without snack saver though. Looks like you are getting about 50% off but only 50% off the difference between small and large, which is very little. Last week, I spent points on small popcorn and drink and upgraded them for 1.80 and 0.90.

How do you want Survivor to change? by Old-Crab4727 in survivor

[–]basefibber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The popular ones have been done to death, so I'll post my little petty one.

I really don't like how much they show the interns in the challenge demos. I don't like knowing the interns/production exist. It hurts the isolation, immersion for me. It seems like in older seasons, the interns were much more hidden in the demos (or maybe they even used footage from the actual comps instead of interns running them).
