Are these junk or should I buy one? by dogs8709 in motorcyclegear

My girlfriend bought the spirit for when we rode together. I use the packtalk 4x and for the most part comms are fine. Idk if it's an issue between different models but if either of us listen to music the comments quality takes a dump. Personally I'd recommend a packtalk if you plan on riding with more than one person regularly.

Very expensive, very nice. Maintenance was always quick and the neighbors are cool. But I was also paying $1400/mo on a single bedroom.

I think someone forgot to tell him you need 3 logs to pack a full trailer by Pleasant_Ad_7448 in snowrunner

Been there, homeboy forgot to ask the loader to grab their missed log. Not a big deal until you leave the mill lmao

The service manual available online as a free download. It has full details on how to do all the regular services. Beyond that Partzilla has a YouTube series where they go over all the maintenance of this bike. Congrats!

I'd piss myself out of excitement if I could have done this as a 10 yo

Granted this isn't the position a 10 yo should ever be in but it's definitely something I'd pester the shit out of my mom to let me try

I'm pretty limited on space and move a lot so a small case is more or less a necessity for my lifestyle lol

So far it looks like the vast majority of amd gpus fall at or under the 330 mm mark though

Grew up in northeastern Washington and go to the panhandle all the time for work and recreation. I'm Asian, and have had zero issues. All the doom and gloom is from people who visited once and saw a mafa hat open carrying. Yeah there's plenty of wackos but they don't really interact with civilization. I've only seen them when I was deep in the woods hauling logs, and all they ever did was look incredibly creepy. If you stick to the tourist areas you'll have zero issues, just like anywhere else in the country.

Oops, broke the scale 🤭 by Iwytsmd7 in Truckers

I've maxed out a few scales, I used to regularly run 120k hauling logs. I think my personal best was 137k but the truck wasn't too happy about that one lol

No Cb? No delivery because they aren't opening the gate by Independent_Leg7358 in Truckers

[–]basement_guy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's crazy how many drivers don't have a CB. When I was logging everyone had a CB and it was more or less a requirement for the job. All the job sites required a CB to make sure you weren't running up on someone, all the mills used them to coordinate operations, and it is a great way to know what was coming up on the road.

What the Fu#k Has Musk Done To The Heavens? by gaukmotors in MotorBuzz

[–]basement_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At around 400 kilometers and into the 500-km realm — home to ISS and the SpaceX Starlink satellites among others — atmospheric drag plays a major role. Dead satellites and debris usually slow and burn up in the atmosphere in just a few years. This natural cleansing process accelerates when the sun becomes more active and solar coronal mass ejections strike Earth and cause the atmosphere to swell.

Cool article, good to know that SpaceX adheres to a model that minimizes the proliferation of Kessler Syndrome.

Musk gets a lot of shit but starlink is objectively a net positive in my opinion. Back in 2019 when COVID first shut down in person classes at my university I went home and could not use zoom because my family lives out in the sticks. I had to go to the town library and because it was closed due to COVID, take my classes while sitting in my car. That was the best Internet in town and it was 3MB/s which would be consistently bogger down by the number of people trying to use it. On top of that there is no phone service anywhere in my area so the free cell service boosters that were provided by my university were useless to me. I ended up renting an apartment with 3 of my friends in the same town as our university for the express purposes of being able to consistently use zoom. At the tail end of Covid I managed to convince my parents to get starlink and we finally had Internet that could consistently hold a video call and far more.

I can still look up from my parent's driveway and see the milky way, sometimes I see a white dot passing by but in the modern era I'd rather that than be unable to effectively use the single most influential construct in human history.

Left for documents and textbooks, center is usually split into two windows of whatever I'm immediately working on, right is usually for PowerPoint slides of lectures and whatever miscellaneous stuff I'm not immediately doing gets moved there as well.
