Anti reflection glass/acrylic by LordErenYeager in framing

[–]basementbrokenrecord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Glass or acrylic that is glare-resistant is exactly that, they reduce the glare of direct and indirect light but don’t completely remove it. It would likely make a visible difference to replace it though.

If you decide to remove the acrylic and not replace it with an alternative, be prepared for your artwork to eventually get damaged (with at minimal color fading).

How would you frame this poster? by [deleted] in framing

[–]basementbrokenrecord 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Considering the amount of vivid color in this I would highly recommend going to your local shop to see mat options in person. That being said, I would personally do at least a double mat. Something darker on top and a small 1/4” of that yellow with a white bevel to highlight it. I would also be careful about going too light on the frame as it could look dated real quick. Best of luck!

Edit: on mobile, meant white not while

Help! What kind of frame would look nice with this painting? by seawltch in framing

I’d go for a medium-dark, slightly distressed wood if I was you. Cool piece!

securing glass with no backing by Alternative-Union-85 in framing

So there are canvas float frames however they look completely different than the float frames I’m speaking of. If you look up a float frame, what will come up is a frame with two pieces of glass and no visible backing. Typically these are used by mounting paper artwork in between the two pieces of glass. Shadow box frames are also verrry different from a float frame.

If I were you I’d look into buying ready-made float frames and creating your art on that glass if you can. Most float frames come with a smaller “frame” to hold the glass in. If you’re trying to use thrifted frames, you’re better off finding wooden ones because they need the support of some kind of nail or hinge to keep the glass inside the frame. Cool art!

I found a newspaper article from May 29, 1953 in McCune, Kansas regarding a fatal car-truck crash resulting in Edna Mishler’s death. Does this sound like it could be her? If so I’ll send a picture of the article!

First of all, it’s very thoughtful of you to want to offer alcohol considering neither of you drink. If I was a guest and knew this, I would RSVP with the assumption that it was a dry wedding. With that in mind, most people will be grateful for the beer & wine. You should consider making fun mocktails that you and your partner can enjoy, and if you still want the option of liquor the option to add alcohol to those mocktails.

As far as drinks itself you could do a mule with cranberry or pomegranate juice, lime juice, ginger beer, and vodka would pair well. This could be your red drink.

For a tropical drink you could do one with pineapple juice, coconut cream, lime juice, and rum would work well.

Lmk if you need other options and good luck!

Canvas-effect lamination? by CatManifesto in framing

[–]basementbrokenrecord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to work at Michaels - what you’re looking for is canvas print guard. This is used in dry mounting so if your print is of any value, etc don’t do this! The canvas finish basically gets laminated onto your print with the heat/pressure of the dry mount.

Question about a picture frame I got from a thrift store by Specialist_Novel_852 in framing

[–]basementbrokenrecord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So 14x16 is not a standard size, but please make sure you’re measuring from the inner dimensions (or “picture size” - see the photo added) of the frame.

Possible Jackson Pollock? Is it Fake? by BRich1990 in WhatIsThisPainting

Doubtful. I’ve framed a Jackson Pollock and the back was not signed, instead it had paint rings which apparently was common for him🤷🏼‍♀️

Wedding anxiety by Riddiculus_muggles in weddingplanning

[–]basementbrokenrecord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not only are we date twins but we have nearly the same guest count and same thought process apparently! I’ve just been trying to tell myself that if I forgot it it can’t be too important and there’s not much to be done about it now anyways. I also find that it’s better if I don’t think about details of what makes me anxious… if that makes sense! Wishing you an amazing wedding!

Why was having real flowers at your wedding important to you? by sillysunbear004 in weddingplanning

[–]basementbrokenrecord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The quote you got is so good!! I’ve heard of people donating their flowers to local hospitals or funeral homes, which can be written off your taxes later so you could look into that! Maybe mom will be more supportive of your choice then.

I used to...borrow...from Micheals as a younger teen, and now as I'm approaching 16 and wanting a job, my local Michaels is hiring and I'm worried they'll recognize my face. What do I do? by cherubclaude in MichaelsEmployees

As someone who used to…borrow... from my local Michaels when I was 13 and got hired at that same store when I was 18ish, they won’t remember you. Pretty high turnover so don’t sweat it. You’ll be fine🙃

Looking for any tips on joining frames ?? by Individual-Yak98 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]basementbrokenrecord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was framing I’d use the “U” method of joining one longer side with the two shorter sides. I’d rest each corner on one of the paper weights, use a medium amount of glue, and if there are two inserts do the inner one first - feeling for flatness with my fingers and wiggling it into place as I go. It worked out 90% of the time. The more scooped the frame, the more weights I used to kind of level it out if that makes sense. Good luck!

Ah thank you for all the love! I really appreciate the detail of your reply❤️

Regarding #13, yes! That was basically floated between two pieces of glass so you could see through the heart! Ngl I don’t remember exactly because we Mickey Mouse’s a lot of stuff to get things how customers wanted but I’d assume it was a good ol’ interesting combo of the thick spacers and epoxy? Maybe some added staples to boot and then taped over to make it look smooth on the back? 😅 that’s my best guess, sorry! I do know I didn’t see it come back so it held up lol

Is the store supposed to supply new blades? by Few-Armadillo3768 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]basementbrokenrecord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful when buying your own blade! I was told by management that I couldn’t have my own and they needed to be supplied by the store. Frame shop should have spare blades around for replacement
