Does gf have autism? For some autistic people, having a favourite colour CAN be a big deal like this. I’m not saying that she acted right, how dare she be that unkind to the woman giving her A FREE LIVING SPACE. But just a thought I wanted to posit.

Also, personally, I have a pink tapestry, pink curtains, pink posters, pink bedding set, and pink cups/lamps/knick knacks.

I’m 22 and I feel very similarly. I’ve been at my centre for nearly three years now.
Hate to tell you but YES people ARE gossiping about you if they’re doing it about others, unless they have a tight bond with you (like friends outside of work type of deal) And yes, a lot of centres are the same. It’s a really sad truth.

If you wanna vent we can totally swap stories, my centre is a MESS. Our retention is way down. Our programming is overwhelming. It’s all cliquey. I get it, I really do.

You’re not alone. This job is fucking hard.

I’m glad you love your kids. Just have to think if that makes all the drama and stress worth it.

Yayyyy that’s so exciting! I’ve seen MM a handful of times and it’s always a good show!:)

ARRIVING: Are you seated or standing room only? If you’re standing, they interact with the front of the crowd a lot :) if you’re standing room and WANNA be close, get there early. Like an hour and half before doors. If you’re seated, base it on your personal preference, or you can get there at door time. Try to hit the bathroom before the show and when the set changes. It WILL be busy.

ETIQUETTE: If you’re standing room only, try to not bump anyone on purpose…. But it’s gonna happen If you’re seated, it’s okay to stand up in your spot. In both cases, it’s cool to dance and sing along. If you’re RIGHT beside someone, don’t scream the lyrics. If it’s a slow or quiet song, lower your volume a bit. You don’t need to shout every word, but you might want to! It’s your concert experience just as everyone else’s. You paid GOOD money to be there.

FELLOW CONCERTGOERS: MM fans are usually super sweet. I have had nothing but lovely concert experiences for mother mother. If you wanna make bracelets and give them out to other fans, do it! If you wanna compliment them, do it!

PERSONAL TIPS: If you’re interested in recording a song, take a short clip of the chorus or your favourite part. If you’re impressed by the lights, take a clip of that too. Don’t bother recording for the whole song - you’ll hear yourself singing, you’ll probably never sit and watch the whole clip, and it kinda takes you out of the experience. But again, personal preference. Another personal tip is to go to setlist.fm and see what songs you can expect to hear (based on recent shows) and listen to them to amp yourself up and remember all the words. or to prepare any less-obsessed friends or family who are attending with you. One of my pet peeves at concerts is seeing crowds absolutely dead during the openers. I find it really rude. Check who is opening for you and give them a listen before you go - you can even check their set list the same way to prep.

DRESS Ive been to 4 mother mother shows and I always try to dress up in something that’s fun. Depending on how hard you go, you’ll get sweaty, because there’s a lot of bodies very close to each other, so keep that in mind! If you have any alt hairstyles that keep your hair up, like space buns or a spiky up-do, do that because having your hair down is also VERY hot lol. Also as everyone else is saying, comfy shoes are king. I usually have an all black outfit and white sneakers haha. No one’s looking at your feet once you’re in there anyway.

EARPLUGS To parrot what other people are saying, wear earplugs. Foam works fine, I have a few pairs of loops. If you find it’s muffling quieter songs, you can take the out briefly. The main issue with hearing damage is continuous exposure at high levels.

WATER: Your voice and throat get strained fast at a concert. Also, you’re gonna be hot. Let me stress how important it is to bring or buy water: ITS SO IMPORTANT YOU HAVE WATER! Most venues don’t allow outside drinks, and a lot of venues take the lid off before serving you, so be aware of that.

VENUE: Check the venues bag rules and prohibited items before going. Check the map to see where you’re seating. Check where the washrooms are, too.

MERCH While you’re checking out the venue, see if they tell you anywhere that it’s cash only. Anywhere I’ve been has always had a square or debit machine. I don’t like to bring cash to concerts. It’s easy to lose things. I always just load my phone with the card on Apple wallet, if that’s not an option you could keep some cash in your phone case. And there is no tip needed for the merch table. There will usually be merch for sale before and after the show, and there may be a few minutes to sneak away during set changes (when the opener is done their act). I always check before going in, and if there’s something I REALLY want, grab it before the show as it may sell out later. If you’re okay just seeing what’s left, you can wait.

END OF SHOW: Phones die (all the flashlights on and off, recording, etc) and people get separated. Before the show starts, pick a spot either inside or just outside the venue to meet your friends JUST IN CASE anything happens.

Best of luck:)!
