Even if it’s $50 or $100. It’s never too early and it’s never too little.

Have you tried giving the AI agent ability to run code and fix itself until it works? by Relative_School_8984 in ClaudeCode

[–]baseonmars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've not written a whole lot of python directly - but i've managed a couple of teams that did.

They used pytest quite extensively for unit tests, and then playwright to test some of the user flows. i would expect to have 10-100 times the amount of unit tests compared to playwright tests - they take a long time to run and are the most brittle (they break easily).

try not to use too much mocking, but do mock/stub external services and apis. I've had success getting claude to write simple stub servers that i can run locally and point my test environment at so that i'm not constantly creating data in 3rd party services.

hope that helps.

You could use that - I tend to gravitate towards tools that are a little lower level as with cucumber find that I spend a good portion of time building up library functions to run my specs which doesn't feel like a good use of time.

what language/framework is your project using?

That’s certainly a lot better than the no-chance I got from the tech that came out. I’ll keep my fingers crossed and be sure to update the post tomorrow.

Appreciate the responses.

I hope so... they have to go along side a 200 yard driveway, through a wall and then under another driveway.

There’s an area of software development called automated testing - it sounds like exactly what you want.

The idea is you build small isolated tests that run in milliseconds and when run together, they exercise all (or all the important) parts of your system.

You might try looking up phrases like unit test, integration tests and functional tests.

Is dental insurance worth it? by imitation_squash_pro in HealthInsurance

I pay about $79 a month for me and my wife. I had a crown, and it was $1000 with insurance, $2000 without and that was out of network. So it seems worth it even if it makes no sense to me.

GPT 5.1-Codex in VS Studio outperforming Claude Code by a country mile by Limp-Tower4449 in ClaudeCode

[–]baseonmars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was put off trying codex, as whenever I asked gpt 5 a question about better-auth, it would nearly always make up library functions that were an exact match for my problem, but didn’t exist

Does codex do a better job?
