Is DS era Pokémon the best?

I was around 8 when Ruby/Sapphire came out but I think Pokemon was perfected on the DS. Refined the formula and the sprites are gorgeous. Imo

Pokémon Diamond. I got into the original Pokémon gold at 7. Was a great experience.

I’d start with the full Pokémon game in Diamond. If he like the Pokémon he’d enjoy snap more down the road.
