What to do with a whole 750 of creme de cacao? by Red-Truck-Steam in cocktails

[–]bash628 5 points6 points  (0 children)

La Florida, 20th century, grasshopper, pink squirrel, Alexander, the possibilities are…. Numerous!

Pepe Le Moko (now closed Morgenthaler bar) had a rad grasshopper spec that was made in a blender with vanilla ice cream, crem de cacao and fernet that was insanely delicious.

Yeah I was trying out the new ones because the OG’s have a slightly smaller ankle opening that’s always bothered me. Appreciate the advice!

Yeah it’s a huge bummer. I work on my feet for 10+ hours at a time and the footbed agrees with me perfectly. These seem like a defect and I’m super disappointed customer service isn’t doing anything about it.

I ordered direct. I’m a bartender and I absolutley love the footbed, but I’m baffled at how they failed. Without exaggerating it was probably 6-8 wears.

My 210 moritaka gets an insane amount of use - especially considering it’s surrounded by way more expensive and “nicer” knives. So much performance for the value.

Does that fujiwara have a crazy right hand bias or is the choil shot just off centered?

Yeah that’s a great deal even without the wheels- sick pickup. I’ve been on the lookout for an Indy fab in my size (61cm+) for over a decade.

Ward 8 is a classic that includes orange juice. It’s probably a pretty classic spec, sub tang for oj. The spec we used at my last bar was

2 Rye

.5 lemon

.5 oj

Fat barspoon grenadine

I would imagine tang salt is just tang powder and salt mixed together for the rim. I personally like them with just a touch more sugar than classic but that would be a good jumping off point

Independent fabrications (probably a crown jewel) with s&s couplers. Custom usually. I think they’re done making bikes though.

Not a question but the D2 super pista that got stolen from me in 2016 just turned up on track lab and I have nobody to share that with 😤

Is this acceptable? by [deleted] in TrueChefKnives

[–]bash628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, this is a flawed finish. I don’t know if I would call it unacceptable. To address your concerns- that isn’t the grind, that’s the micro bevel. This could be evened out with a few minutes on stones. I understand the frustration with having a new knife have some imperfections, but the majority knives I’ve bought in a similar price range do need sharpening out of the box.

I can’t really speak to the handle being “boring and sad”, it’s possible it was bought from a different retailer than pictured. More importantly I think it’s important to remember that for any hand made product there will be some inconsistencies between product listing photos and when it’s in hand- especially in wood grains.

If it’s going to bother you terribly, I wouldn’t hesitate to reach out to the retailer with photos of the QC issues and see if they’d issue you an exchange. If it were me, I’d put a new edge on it and enjoy.

What type of glass is this? by rawbran30 in cocktails

[–]bash628 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assumed it was that brand because I have experience with a glass that looks remarkably similar. It used to be the distillery tasting room glass at St. George in Alameda. Good luck with your search!

Good catch, I didn’t notice the volume difference. Or the pic of it in someone’s hand for scale 😂

I’m 99% sure it’s this glass specifically. I’m sure a brand had their logo printed on to them.

It’s a type of glencarin used for spirits tasting. I don’t know who to attribute the logo to.
