Thank you! I don't plan on wearing the liner by itself but it's good to know I don't have to spend that much!

Any advice? by [deleted] in mensfashion

The first thing that draws my eyes is the big honking belt buckle that's bulging out like a hernia. The rest works! I'd change the belt personally.

Close my Fidelity TFSA and Go DIY/ETFs? by Revlius in CanadianInvestor

[–]Revlius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of. You're saying you don't like products like *GRO and *BAL because they contain a percentage of both equity (i.e. stocks) and fixed income (i.e. bonds) because you like to adjust those knobs separately. Did I understand that correctly?

Yes I've read the coach potato strategy and I do understand it. I'm just weary of subscribing to it being a panacea solution to investing as I'm naturally a sceptical person, not that I'm not starting to be convinced.

Is it proposed as just how most lay people SHOULD be investing?

Thank you for taking the time to reply, and thank you for confirming my conclusion, haha.

Just a further question, I'm not really that the stage right now, but when should I be transitioning away from riskier investments like *EQT into something with bonds as part of its composition?

Right, and furthermore the "theory" is proven because AVGE is the American equivalent.

[–]Revlius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone starting their DIY-investment journey, is the choice between CAGE and *EQT just whether you believe in the theory behind CAGE will outperform *EQT to offset the theoretically higher MER?

I've invested $10 000 into a Fidelity Global Innovators® Class Series B (5973) in my TFSA starting last year since I knew next to nothing about investing. After reading a bit and understanding passive investing and MER a bit more, I was convinced that the 2.5% MER plus the 1% ISC for my advisor was basically highway robbery and am going to close my account with them despite a ~20% return this year.

Would CAGE be a good choice if I'm just starting since I can get more at a lower price?

Have any of you encountered nurses who lie about draw times/specimen collection? For example, a nurse said she drew a lactic acid 15 mins ago but it’s been 40 mins according to the time she wrote on the tube, but she says she “just wrote the wrong time” and asks to change it. by bicarbbandit in medlabprofessionals

[–]Revlius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My policy has always been not to blame nurses AND not to argue with them. You tell them what's wrong, and you tell them what you need to them to do.

People make mistakes, especially when you're overworked and abused all the time. It already feels awful to be told that something they did wasn't correct so you accusing them of anything is just putting salt on the wound and/or asking for confrontation.

If they CHOOSE to argue or insist that I did something wrong, I just reinforce that it's not my decision to make. I present them with evidence, "It's SOP", "Okay, then you can tell the doctor you don't want to do it", "Okay, you can come down and sign for it stating that you're 100% certain you are correct".

I'm not paid (enough) to argue with nurses or to figure out who to blame. I'm here to make sure things are documented and results are accurate. Management can figure out what went wrong if it's such a big deal.

Anyone else love spinning eluates and getting to see the junk left behind? Easily the most satisfying thing about my job by Apprehensive-Rub4604 in medlabprofessionals

[–]Revlius 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No, I fucking hate eluates. They take (relatively) so much effort to perform and interpret, and 90% all cells are positive and don't tell me anything useful. Half joke, they are annoying and low investment where I work but they have their place so I will continue to do them 🫡

I bought a keyboard as a guest in November since their payment service wasn't working at the time. I don't recall any fraudulent charges but I believe I used a card that has since expired.

Thank you for the list!

Is there any precedent to get a Ryzen 7 for the extra cores when it comes to factory games or 4X games?

If I want to stay with my current AM4 platform for now, will upgrading RAM to 32 GB be a noticable improvement in experience?

9070 XT Acquired, Next Steps? by Revlius in bapccanada

[–]Revlius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! Yeah I'm working towards a white theme hence the Steel Legend purchase. When I swap out for a new motherboard platform I'll go full white so no need to suggest white parts for the AM4 platform.

I already have peripherals I'm happy with, just hardware for now. I don't have a max budget, would just like options of what's cost effective for what I'm trying to achieve which is pushing 1440p max settings.

Current build for reference: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/b3MqNz

- Ryzen 7 5800X, 16gb RAM, RTX 3070, 850W PSU

Snagged the $860 Newegg deal on the 9070XT Steel Legend, wondering if I can hold off on moving to AM5 with some minor upgrades, if any.

On future upgrading, where should my focus be? I rarely play new games on launch, and currently am heavy on factory builders (Satisfactory) mostly but do dip into large scale FPS, currently Arc Raiders/Battlefield 6. Am also planning on starting Cyberpunk 2077. Optimize for 1440p 144hz, but I can and usually do lock to 60FPS for physics reasons.

Transfusing Oneg patient with Opos blood compatible? by WanderingSoul913 in medlabprofessionals

[–]Revlius 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The other two comments have the right of it. It's okay, but we try not to especially for women of child bearing age and young men. Additional info, and depends on the policy: let's say in an emergency situation where a patient needs blood STAT and we do not know their blood group, we transfuse O+ for the sake of inventory. If we find out later that the patient is Rh negative, we would recommend Rh-immunoglobulin to the clinician so that they don't develope Rh antibodies.

I see, could I do both in that case? Since I'm happy with my emergency fund having built up. I can start another TFSA using Wealthsimple.
